a friend was discussing this in social media and i just feel really sad
www.cellularsol.co.uk/meet-the-staff

scroll to the bottom - i think its such a visual example of what happens in a lot of businesses ;-(

Wow! That's really quite stark, though interesting that their entire non-senior management structure is female!

Andcake · 13/11/2013 16:59

its an extreme - but it makes you think how many companies would look if the same thing was done!

from the friend who posted in sm - lots of jokes from the 'boys' along the lines of 'guess who is doing the hiring'
i wonder what it feels like to be working there and if the women see themselves in with a chance to promotion at senior management level

Andcake · 13/11/2013 17:10

interesting I wish I had screen grabbed it - maybe people sharing it has made the site go down - shame.

Is this the page? It was just posted on twitter.

EduCated · 13/11/2013 19:58

4 male senior managers, perhaps about 20 lower managers, all female.

EBearhug · 13/11/2013 21:58

And not only all female, but they all have a very similar look. I wonder what their policy on ageism is?

MistAllChuckingFrighty · 13/11/2013 22:08

Why are all the females young, attractive and almost all have nearly identical hair

Each photo almost looks like an Identikit "moderately attractive, youngish, personable female in business"

How bloody depressing

I wonder what their policy on ageism is?

Same as their policy on hiring men.

LovesBeingHereAgain · 14/11/2013 04:34

It looks like it must tge staged to look like that, that it can't be real iyswim. How sad tgat it is.

Andcake · 14/11/2013 09:24

Yes it looks very staged. the link on the metro is the one that I originally posted. The comments on the metro article make an interesting read as well!

Even if it did show "discrimination against younger men" you know who's doing that? Men!

I am always confused when it's feminisms fault about this, that or the other about men when it's men as a class who have the power and are making the decisions.

MistAllChuckingFrighty · 14/11/2013 17:47

Them whataboutthemenzers always manage to shoe horn it in somewhere, don't they Grin

MistAllChuckingFrighty · 14/11/2013 17:48

And they think Feminists are pedantic and see problems where there are none !

Bluestocking · 14/11/2013 18:01

They've replaced the page with this text. Because hiding the truth means it isn't true any more. HmmConfused

You may have noticed that we no longer have a ”meet the staff” page. Following a rise in visits to our website and mentions of the company through certain media channels in relation to our recruitment policy, we have chosen to remove it from the website indefinitely.
We took this decision in consultation with our staff who are rightly concerned about being posted around the internet by people making inaccurate and inappropriate comments about our staff and our recruitment policies. The “meet the staff” page was designed for our clients to put a face to the name of the people they deal with here and now that page has been taken out of context we feel it is no longer appropriate.
We are an equal opportunities employer and will remain so. We are proud of our team and remain committed to their individual development.

Grin They also lie!

DadWasHere · 14/11/2013 23:46

So? Is there some kind of distinction that invalidates discrimination within a race/age/gender segment if the discrimination is by the same segment? Other victims outside the segment like to channel the irony/humour/justice in that? Thats just a form of schadenfreude.

TheDoctrineOfWho · 15/11/2013 00:10

It's not schadenfreude, from the second paragraph on that post, it was clear that Wasps was saying any such discrimination was not the fault of feminism.

It was a short post.

DadWasHere · 15/11/2013 01:37

Please show me where in my own short post I write that I think it has anything to do with feminism. I don't think anything like that.

If you want me to write it different- the sentence I quoted equates to victims disassociating themselves from victims who belong to the same segment as the perpetrators.

Its got nothing to do with feminism, even gender is unnecessary, when I lived in the US I got told: 'Yea, its black men who are being killed, you know whos doing that? Black men!' That from a white guy who had been mugged by blacks.

TheDoctrineOfWho · 15/11/2013 07:08

You didn't say anything about feminism, but you seemed to be saying that the post by Wasps was an example of schadenfreude.
