From heavy snow to heavy rain and gales

Once again the west seems most likely to suffer flooding. Heavy rain sweeps the country tonight and then again Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday also sees gales for many especially southern coastal counties.

Yes :( I must say on a selfish level I am very very pleased to see the rain come to sweep away all this bloody snow. BUT I think the flooding could be pretty nightmarish. Fingers crossed everyone gets through okay.

I think the flooding will be nightmarish for some. A mix of snow melt and heavy rain on saturated ground.

Unlikely to see flooding here but our garden is just sopping, 2 inches of water on the grass at the bottom.

Trendy, it looks really wet from Monday afternoon through Tuesday. Pretty strong winds too on Tuesday. Wet weather gear for all I think!

Thunder and lightening and masses of rain in west Wales, must have been a big storm as friends 40 miles away were posting on FB about it at the same time as me (naive, that might not make it a huge storm really, just seems it to me). There has already been some flooding, not surprised as the ground has been saturated for months and we had loads of snow weds/thurs.

The rain has gone off a little - it's not lashing against the window any more, but if my plastic greenhouse wasn't tied against the back steps and weighted down it would have blown away by now. It is very windy out there.

I hope the flooding doesn't cause too many problems for people. We are very very unlikely to flood and I have to admit to being delighted that the rain last night has washed away a lot of our snow. Can you imagine if the temp had stayed down and that fell as snow instead?!

The expresion " be careful what you wish for" comes to mind.
It was raining slightly at 9.30 pm. And more heavily all night long. Stopped now.
Lowest temp. in the night +7, at 7am today already +10. Doubt it will be sunny, though.

Oh great joy. I like the snow for dog walking as he comes back clean. Now it's the return of the swamp monster again. But pleased all of this slippy stuff has gone.

I am seriously fed up - I missed the decent snow in Manchester, and now last night I missed a cracking thunderstorm too!

Apparently Manky cat climbed the curtains in terror!

Had my little dog < 10" shoulder height> 3 weeks today. The snow came up to her chin and soon she couldn't walk as groins and ankle joints snowballed up and had to carry her home. Not yet walked her in the rain - that joy to come. She has tiny paws and is small enough for me to hold in one arm while I run the tap water over her paws. She still walks faster than I can run.

Hi all from sopping wet Worcestershire. I am overjoyed it has gone above freezing, but I am already thinking about the floods. I am going to wash the car today.

Since the sun got up , but is not sunny, temp. outside is 1 degree colder < annoyed face>. Not raining though. +9 but damp cold.
