I think that things like raisins are fine once they have developed the pincer movement and can pick them up themselves.
If you are worried about choking I'd really recommend a Paed first aid course. Your local Children's centre, St. John's ambulance or British Red Cross might run them.
I wouldn't worry about the sugar in raisins either, babies need calories to grow, just make sure you clean Los teeth 2 or 3 times a day. Mine eat loads and have never had ax problem with their teeth

My dd is alost 8 months and has been eating solids for about 8 weeks. I am still nervous about small pieces of food, like peas and chickpeas so I still squish them before giving them to her. She hasnt had raisins yet, but i would like to introduce them as they are easy to carry when out ( yes, i kow they have a high sugar content)
What size does food have to be so that it isnt a choking hazard? She is fine with large peices, i dont know why i am so concerned about small pieces.
