I'm another one who would recommend caution! I got on 7 weeks after a very straight-forward CS, but only did walk and a tiny bit of trot the first time on a very chilled cob in the school. I then gave it 48 hours to see if anything hurt before I got back on. I didn't really do any proper schooling for the first couple of months as I had really lost my core muscles (they split during the pregnancy) and I was just not as secure as I used to be.
Take it easy. DD was born 28th Feb (10 years ago!) by C Section and DW decided to go for a ride with me over Easter (about 6 weeks later). She'd been mega fit before the birth (50 mile endurance rides etc) but lost all her core strength and when DHorse bucked (due to being fresh!) she flew off and broke her ankle (not ideal with young baby!).
You will be amazed how weak you've become and will have to start your fitness campaign all over again.
Good luck!!! I felt fine the first few times only as I started doing more did I notice my reduced core balance. I'm better each time I ride!!! If I could ride more often I think I'd be better!! Enjoy !!
Is it your first dc? It's quite common to lose your sense of immortality when you have a baby. I spent a lot of time worrying about what would happen if I fell off and hurt myself and I couldn't look after the baby! if met lots of other women who feel the same!
