Tomorrow is the big day! Or maybe Friday if it's really cold ;)
No idea what to expect. I know my core strength has all but gone. Wondering if I'll get pain from the incision....we shall see.

Hi, great to find this thread! I am 2 1/2 weeks post c-section and can't wait until I feel fit enough to get on. Particularly, as the weather seems to be improving!

I was going to ride today, 8 weeks since C-section, but I realized that I do not have a bra that will fit and support these lactating paps!
So we long lined instead.

Yes...I rode a different one today who is quote hit. Nothing hurt this time but goodness I'm unfit! As you say, no core strength. Quite shocking really.

I'm another one who would recommend caution! I got on 7 weeks after a very straight-forward CS, but only did walk and a tiny bit of trot the first time on a very chilled cob in the school. I then gave it 48 hours to see if anything hurt before I got back on. I didn't really do any proper schooling for the first couple of months as I had really lost my core muscles (they split during the pregnancy) and I was just not as secure as I used to be.

Take it easy. DD was born 28th Feb (10 years ago!) by C Section and DW decided to go for a ride with me over Easter (about 6 weeks later). She'd been mega fit before the birth (50 mile endurance rides etc) but lost all her core strength and when DHorse bucked (due to being fresh!) she flew off and broke her ankle (not ideal with young baby!).

You will be amazed how weak you've become and will have to start your fitness campaign all over again.

Just be careful!!! ESP if it hurt!! I know it's your living but you don't want to open anything up!!
Good luck tomorrow!

Yes first DC. My friend held him for me - my poor groom is going to have to do that in future!

I felt surprisingly loose in the saddle. Scar area was aching a tad and pulling slightly - and getting off hurt! Only rode for 5 min and didn't canter for long. On every day from now on though!

Be careful dismounting, I found banging the scar on the knee rolls hurt. A lot!

Don't worry too much about a deep seat and sitting trot for a week or two.

Hope it goes really well! Smile

Your muscles will have distant memories. Take it easy!

Good luck!!! I felt fine the first few times only as I started doing more did I notice my reduced core balance. I'm better each time I ride!!! If I could ride more often I think I'd be better!! Enjoy !!

Is it your first dc? It's quite common to lose your sense of immortality when you have a baby. I spent a lot of time worrying about what would happen if I fell off and hurt myself and I couldn't look after the baby! Confused if met lots of other women who feel the same!
