(Deliberately posted in a normally low traffic forum).

BBC report on the publication of pictures of Prince Harry naked on a US website.

Would you be tempted to google and look?

RabidAnchovy Thu 23-Aug-12 08:11:07

Is there a link? I am in a bit of a rush today and can not spend all day on google grin

RedBlanket Thu 23-Aug-12 08:14:38

Rabid - google tmz and prince Harry. Seriously not hard to find.

Bertrude Thu 23-Aug-12 08:15:33

First thing I did when I heard about it!

Obviously from my phone though, because googling naked photos of royalty on a work computer may be deemed inappropriate usage of company equipment...

It's about become even easier to find: unless something happens in the next couple of hours, the BBC is reporting that The Sun will publish them here tomorrow. This follows a Scottish website publishing them today.

RedBlanket Thu 23-Aug-12 22:23:07

Love the DM faux outrage at them being printed but then giving a full list of all the sites you can find them, and thumbnails showing where to look on google images.

Another AIBU thread - about The Sun again

twofingerstoGideon: trollop has no perjorative connotations whatsoever in my idiolect, so I think you are wrong to assume it must be a loaded term.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis Thu 23-Aug-12 22:27:37

What does it mean to you Edith, is it a direct swap for girl? Genuine question as to me it is quite pejorative.

twofingerstoGideon Fri 24-Aug-12 00:16:26

Most people would use it pejoratively I think DoctrineofEnnis

Edith In most sociolects and dialects it would be used to mean a slut or prostitute, as you probably know. Strange that you've ascribed it a different meaning in your idiolect. What does it mean to you then?

twofingerstoGideon Fri 24-Aug-12 00:16:51

Genuinely interested by the way...

seeker Fri 24-Aug-12 00:24:10

Of course. I pay for them- I think I have wright to some fun sometimes. Otherwise what am I subsidising?

NoComet Fri 24-Aug-12 00:24:29

Yes, I might Harry's not my type, but a certain tennis player without his clothes ongrin

Why not, DH is always googling his favourite female celebs in the hope of finding them minus their clothes.

Anyhow, having just returned from the med where most people, regardless of age or shape, have had much on, naked pictures are hardly exciting.

NoComet Fri 24-Aug-12 00:26:08

Haven't had much on, DD1 and (in the sea) my self included.

EdithWeston Fri 24-Aug-12 07:57:56

It's an unmarked term for a female who unashamedly enjoys sex. I am equally surprised you have not heard the non-perjorative sense - a term I rather like as I think the language is short of such words. I am hoping I will see it move from unmarked to actually approving term in my lifetime - the language is even more short of them.

Back to the subject of thread - The Sun has published with lots of flimsy argumentation about the public's 'right to know' - can anyone say why the detail of his bodily appearance is remotely relevant to anything to do with his constitutional position? I don't mean describing what he gets up to - words can do that. I mean why the photos?

I can't protest by not buying The Sun, as I don't buy it anyhow. I do think this is an attempt to restore the status quo ante before Leveson conclusions thus giving the tabloids a path straight back to intrusion.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis Fri 24-Aug-12 08:07:04

Thanks Edith. I'm glad it has that meaning for you, hope it spreads!

I too will resolutely not buy The Sun, same as every day! I wonder if it will really get them more readers today as so many people can access online anyway.

OneMoreChap Fri 24-Aug-12 08:14:19

I'd never heard the non-perjorative sense either.

Always irritated me how fewer sexual partners was meant to be good for women but bad for men. I never slept with a virgin woman and was very glad of it; it's a good thing if at least one of the partners knows what they are doing - and the more experienced they are the better they can make the act - and you as a partner.

I haven't bought Murdoch rags for years.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis Fri 24-Aug-12 09:24:41

I also didn't look at the free Sun in the coffee shop

<hitting Rupert where it counts, me>

Edith, do you mean that Leveson wouldn't be able to consider this incident as the evidence gathering has finished?

jetstar Fri 24-Aug-12 09:34:23

I wouldn't have thought of it TBH but on the basis of this thread I have grin not that bothered really, just pics of a naked guy.

Sglefrwr Tue 28-Aug-12 02:25:29

edith constitutional position?

I can think of a few positions I'd like young Harry in wink
