I have no influence on what my teenagers buy. And I have no money left over after supplying them with cash/food/home/heat etc so am totally unaffected by advertising myself as I also don't get to spend on holidays/cars/clothes any more.
I think all ads are aimed at young single earners, pensioners, and mothers-of-pfb's (before the novelty wears off and poverty kicks in).
flow Well put. I just filled in one of these questionnaires. It wanted responses to recent advertisers on MN. I am immune to adverts, never read them, never watch live tv so I always FF through the ads. Actually I think I have an ad blocker on here that was recommended on a MN thread. I don't think my responses would be very helpful.

It's market research isn't it? So is really focused on 'marketing' not 'research'... And let's face it, parents of teens are a much less valuable market than parents of littlies - largely because teens themselves make many/most of the purchasing decisions. We're just the money supply, really, not actually the customers, innit! Which is of course why companies target the teenagers themselves, and they get all the luffly bribes / -rewards presents!
Oh and because we are so ancient we are a lot more jaded and less easily duped by advertisers little more sceptical, so they don't reeeeally want to talk to us much...
Yes I think I signed up before and the surveys I have been sent are all very much targeted at younger parents with babies or small children. Mums of teenagers are perhaps older than the average Mumsnetter, especially those like me who were older parents to start with. <ancient>
I think I've filled something like this in before too, and never heard a dicky bird. Is it because I wrote 'It might be a better outlet for my critical faculties than moaning about stuff in AIBU' in the last box?
