Don't know whats wrong with me as I have been blonde since the day my mummy pushed me into the world but I am fed up of it. My mother has said she will disown me if I dye my hair brown (well not quite but you get the picture) as she says I am blonde and that is that, I would look horrendous with brown hair but there is a little bit of me that would love to see how I felt as a brunette. My hair is more ashy/mousey with highlights now, nothing natural about it at all!
Anyone gone brown after being blonde forever and it suits you?
obviously not! Come on, some of you must be fake brunettes!

I am mousey/dark blonde naturally, have highlights now so quite blonde.
But I have gone darker in the past and yes it looked nice.
For me the mousey blonde is just the most bleurgh colour, it isn't lovely bright blonde or gorgeous rich brown, so I have always lightened or darkened.
Do it!

My eldest is mousy blonde - I assumed she would look good with highlights (she is getting into all that stuff now, a teen), but we tried a brunette wig on her with a hint of red, and she looked stunning. So it can work, but try some wigs first.
Ohh I am not sure neenz, I am quite blonde (pic on my profile). I am sure it would look horrid. I have text my hairdresser to ask her what she thinks. Can you go back to blonde if you go darker and don't like it?
Good idea BOF, I am not sure where there are any decent wig shops around these parts though.

Ah, I'm Waterloo- was going to invite you round for wig trying on session
Really, are you Waterloo? Used to live in Birkdale (hence know Lulumama) but we moved back to Chester in March. I go back to my parents quite a lot in Maghull though. I want to move back to Liverpool but DH is a country boy at heart. Anyway where could I try wigs on?!
BitofFun, don't know if I get you mixed up with another MNnetter but is your DH/DP the artist?

There's a little place round the corner from me, but I imagine there will be loads of hair accessory places nowadays- you know what scouse birds are like
Oh yeah, hair extension shops galore in town! I am a bit more classy than that.

I have blonde hair that used to be highlighted but is now au naturel and dark blonde. I had got to a point where my hair was a bit too blonde for my colouring as I have quite dark eyebrows so the next time I went my hairdresser added some darker colours as well. If you don't want to go all out in one go and jump straight to brown maybe you could try having some darker colours added gradually to see if you like it? You mum might not notice for a while if you do it gradually as well.
(I have just looked at your profile pics and you and your family are gorgeous!

I know, makes you sick, doesn't it, squashedfrogs?
Thanks squashedfrogs, girls are lovely, I am not but thanks for the compliment!
Yes, I think I am too blonde atm, that's the problem but do you know when you just feel like a big change?!

have to say , she is even more gorgeous in the flesh
and is divine as a blonde !! blonde is right for you, suits your skin and eye colour, if anything i'd say go blonder/platinum, not darker, i think you'll not like it darker.
Totally! Although while I'm on a roll with the compliments I've had a look at your profile in the past as well BoF [aware of looking like a stalker emoticon
] and I love your DP's work of you, they are amazing pictures.
LOL Lulu, I knew you would be on soon enough! You are probably right, I am not a brunette am I? I so need a change though, will speak to my hairdresser. Think half the problem is that with having the 3 girls, my hair gets neglected and I need to put more effort in.
at your compliment, thank you but you are just being polite!
I can't view BoF profile at the mo but I have seen it before and she is FAB-U-LOUS! Bitch!
I'm not as brave with the big changes these days but did have a period in my teens of using henna and the mousse dyes that used to come in little aerosol cans. These resulted in orange, slightly pinkish and red hair at various times! I may have got it out of my system early as I've stuck with blonde for a long time now.

BoF you know that art work/graffiti of The Beatles near Bootle (on that roundabout) - did your DH do that?
