Would it be odd to go to a spa on your own for the day?

There's a spa near me that I fancy visiting and maybe I'm being antisocial but I like the idea of going on my own, just taking a good book. I can fully relax, have a swim, a couple of treatments, etc without having to be chatty. Would I stick out like a sore thumb, I've never been to a spa before?
I've never been to a spa, but going alone sounds like bliss.
Go for it.
Alistair, you took the words right out of my mouth! Sounds utterly blissful - go for it! I've been trying to find a date that I can offload the kids and head to my local spa for a day alone....
at going to a spa on your own.
Go and enjoy every minute.
Sorry Alistair - didn't mean to literaly then rep[eat what you'd said ad verbatim!
sounds a great idea
my friend does this regularly on her own
OMG, NO! I would love to and in fact, pre kids, I did it a few times. It was wonderful. I didn't feel like an oddbod at all. Do it!
I have done this twice!!! I went for two nights last time - mothers day treat this year from DH.
It was absoloutely brilliant and really peacefuland relaxing.
I was very brave and did the whole pre dinner drinks and supper in the dining room. When I checked in I asked them to ensure I was sitting somewhere quiet and discreet and they put me next to a huge window facing slightly away from the main body of the resterant. I could people watch without being obvious or noticable. I just took a book down with me but no one minded and I had a lovely time.
( and the whole of the England rugby team were there so there was loads to look at
and [dreamy emoticon])
Do it and be brave.
Excellet, will get it booked tomorrow.
I am going to a spa on my own on May 10th. Can't wait!
Sounds like heaven to me
To be honest, if you go with friends, you will barely see each other as you all be having your treatments at different times and places anyway!
Yes, go, it's fine! I went to a spa on my own today. A friend had to cancel at the last minute, she felt terrible about it, and I said it was fine that I didn't mind going on my own. I looked at it this way - I'd had the spa trip booked three weeks ago and there's no way I was letting a day to myself go to waste when I had childcare organised so far in advance (DH was at home all day today).
I spent the morning using the jacuzzi, sauna, spa pool and steam room, reading newspapers, drinking coffee, water, etc. Then had a two course lunch on my own. Not as bad as it sounds, honestly.
Then had my treatments (back massage and facial) in the afternoon, an hour after my lunch. It was a very quick day! Didn't feel I missed out on having a friend there, because I was so busy doing my own thing.
Old thread, but specific to what I was going to start a new thread about.
I did the same thing myself last month!
As long as I didn't have to be prodded and poked (which I know would defeat the object of being there) it wounds like bliss.
sounds. If I came away with wounds, it really would defeat the object
Augusta nice to hear of another mum doing this recently too
ouryve
I've done it on my own many times; it's fine.
Ps avoid Champneys though.
I have only ever done it on my own because they were presents. I'm not sure that I would want to go with anyone.
Ah it was brilliant, peaceful, relaxing.... I absolutely loved it and would going again if I could justify it to myself. My favourite bit was thd sleeping room.
Crikey- no! Why ever not? No different from going to a pool for a swim, or the gym IMO.
I've always been with someone but would quite happily go alone- and may do soon!
Porkster- why the comment over Champneys? Been ages ago residential but just wondering as there is one just up the road from me. Very ££££ though.
I've never been to a spa accompanied. Don't see the point.
But if you have any treatments INTFO then you are alone ( usually) with the therapist- unless you book a double room for treatments.
Would you do anything alone- like walking, swimming, reading, chilling, gym-ing etc etc?
