First off, big thank you to MN and Freeview!

Right, to business. I have had pretty much nothing new in the last 5 years. I need cardigans and a coat.

I am around a size 16, and build like a broad shouldered box (3 babies in 5 years...). Medium height. Dark hair, quite pale skin. In essence, I need stuff that is well cut, in dark colours.

Am thinking this for coat

but cardigans? So much choice!

Please give me your thoughts

(I reckon with discount codes I can go up to £350 btw, but I'm getting stuff for the kids with at least £100 of that. Luckily, dp does not like boden stuff. )

see I like the chic cardigan

but I don't think it will suit my body shape (long waisted)

I suppose the tie front cardigan is the obvious choice?

And without wishing to be petulant, Boden ALWAYS seems to be sold out of purple-y stuff, why don't they order LOTS of purply stuff?

I have never had the money to even look at the boden site
BUT i came across and fell in the love with the velvet coat on ebay

I didn't even know they did purple
I LOVE purple
I would absolutely swoon for a purple one
and yes they should buy more purple stuff as they must know by now that it is the most popular

tsk tsk silly boden

Fillyjonk · 16/11/2008 08:20

oh this is my first foray onto the Boden site also

It is rather enjoyable, I must say

I like the velvet coat but they only have a jacket style one atm, which is rather a shame, I think.

55 quid for a cardigan

holy crap

sorry will leave now and not piss on your parade

I had to convince myself into buying a pair of lovely trousers when I needed them that were 18 quid!

(I mean my first buying things foray. I've seen the site before but been utterly unable to justify the expense)

yay for your vouchers and happy shopping

Lucky you. I think that the wool dresses are really nice this year and really wasy to wear with dark tights and boots. I will have a look now - horah

TheMadHouse · 16/11/2008 08:44

this is nice without the belt and would be really versitile

I do like that wrap, but I think I'd like something to tie it up with really, iykwim?

oh its hard. I think the problem really is that I am an ex-goth and boden is...well...bodeny

?Maybe I should just get the coat and utterly spoil my kids (they pretty much never have new clothes-none of us do)

I this jumper

Don't buy anything for the children - it is all yours! Anyway, the only things I ever bought for ny DD, she wouldn't wear!

Do you need stuff for work (smart), going out or just casual?

Report
bigTillyMint · 16/11/2008 11:20

That would be I love the jumper!

Have you looked in the sale section - for next summer?!

Report
ilovejonty · 16/11/2008 13:37

I am coveting the long henley jumper", lucky you having vouchers

Report
Fillyjonk · 17/11/2008 07:50

yes I wondered about waiting for the sale...I figured that with the discount codes I'd actually get what I wanted this way...plus its vouchers, yay...

I LOVE the jumper...but not on me...

wrap tops I suspect are the way forward for the fuller figure...

Are boden pickings a little slim atm? Would I be best waiting for the next season?

Bit naughty, but I'd get loads of stuff to try on, return it, then buy it again when the sale starts next month! Find their sizes very variable. Also, if you register you'll get an email with 20% off the new season's stuff. I've never paid full price and tbh I've sent most stuff back this winter.

I am going to give it a miss til the new season/the sale though. There just isn't much there that I LIKE. Oh my life is so hard.

i'm a very similar shape but short waisted and have got this only left in black though. i'm by no means a mainstream dresser but i do own surprisingly large amounts of boden. some of their knitwear with angora and other soft stuff in can go a bit bobbly, safer to stick with merino. jumper dresses are lovely with coloured tights and big boots.

advice to get lots to try and return it is very good, their sizing is fairly consistent but idiosyncratic so you'd better get an idea of what will fit you.

I tried to do a shop t'other day.
Most of what I like seemed to have gone.
