Get my colours done.
Has saved me much time and money. I have fewer clothes but they all suit me and coordinate with each other.

I have been thinking about this as there have been two really easy things that I started at NY after advice on here but they have made a big difference. They are both pretty obvious, the key is to do it every day, no excuses.

One is the 'double cleanse' - so cleanser/make up remover AND toner every night. Has really cleared up my skin this year.

The second is body butter or lotion after EVERY shower or bath - saving my wrinkly aged skin.

I was planning to go back to WOTH in Jan so wanted to step up the beauty routine and feel more 'pulled together' - these were the best steps. They are pretty obvious and I think it was sheer laziness that stopped me bothering before!

Ditch the silicones for the sake of my curls, has really improved my hair.

Exfoliate gently and frequently instead of occasionally and vigorously, skin is much improved as a result.

This one isn't a MN one, I read it in a magazine, but you can lose weight by eating like a normal person, made me re-evaluate my eating habits and I'm losing weight without dieting.

"Ditch the silicones for the sake of my curls" - WhoKnows can you explain that one?

Soap and glory foot file. I still say a little 'thank you Thanks' to whoever recommended it. Bloody amazing.

It's the Curly Girl method, doesn't get talked about on here so much now but a few years ago there were loads of threads about it. It means avoiding conditioners and styling products with silicones in as they coat and build up on your hair, then you can use much gentler shampoos and not strip the natural moisture out, leaves curly hair in much better condition. Google Curly Girl, there's a website. The silicone ingredients either end in -siloxane of dimethicone.

I had some really bad habits that I suspected slim people just don't do, like eating a couple of slices of toast and butter for a mid morning snack, buying crisps for myself with the supermarket shopping and eating them driving home, piling on the butter all round, eating while making packed lunches, using huge amounts of salad dressings, buying meal deal things in the supermarket with sandwiches, crisps and juice etc. Also portion control, having two sausages instead of 3, one piece of garlic bread instead of half a baguette, all that sort of thing. Oh and buying slush puppies in the sports centre cafe several times a week while waiting for the DCs to do their activities (it's boiling there).

So, I've cut out virtually all the butter, which has also had the effect or making me eat far less bread and crackers, I allow myself the odd pack of crisps if I have a supermarket sandwich, but now I have the lower cal sandwiches and don't have the juice just because it's in the offer, I let the DCs eat most of the garlic bread. I take an insulated cup of ice and water to the DCs activities. The weight's coming off slowly, which is fine, I want sustainable changes and I don't want to be keeping track of calories, or points or any of those things because I've tried so many times and just put it all back on in the end.

We were getting through two packs of butter a week as a household, now I've cut back one lasts a fortnight easily, which means I was eating about 3000 calories worth of butter a week plus a lot more toast, crumpets etc than I do now. I'm not even missing it.

That clothes you buy online usually come in a bag which will reseal if you want to send them back. There's a strip inside the bag which, when you pull it off, will uncover the secret hidden sticky bit. I had no idea!

Thank you for taking the time to explain Stop, it sounds really sensible vs. faddy. For me it's the 'well I've blown it now' routine when I've eaten one piece of chocolate that turns it to 10 pieces! The butter thing is great, it's amazing when you see a tangible thing like that, isn't it?

Second the 5k one. It really actually does work.
