I live in skinnies and my biker or Chelsea boots..I wear big oversized tops with it or sometimes Id wear a dress over the jeans. I also like shirts, Im tall and got bigger boobs so I found it hard to buy shirts from H&M for example, I got the perfect ones from MiH which are really good/great cut/quality..

I love coatigans too, plus a big scarves smile

I love over sized tops and jumpers and wolly glittery cardis that make me feel thin and glam for some reason. I love love love blazers and scarves. I don't have huge boobs (c to d) but tops that cover me from boob up to neck look awful on me. Wrap dresses look great and I find ones with 3 quarter sleeves make them look more day dressy then night. I also wear loads of pencil skirts and high waisted jeans.

Short dresses and tunics or t shorts with a waisted but casual jacket.
Although don't do totally flat boots much tbh

I like the idea of glittery cardies, I feel that oversized tops make me look huge, dresses look awful, gone off skirts too, put loads of weight on around my stomach sad

I love scarves as they hide a multitude of sins grin

Can you link me to the type of things??

I have this jumper

http://www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=57362&vid=1&pid=000245957005

and I love it. it washes so nicely, looks good with skinnies as its baggyish to compliment tight jeans, it feels so soft to your skin and right now with the 30% off its only £16

i also like to layer, so a long sleeve top with a short sleeve blouse over the top etc coats, I have a few, one down filled north face, a green army style fleece lined parker, a smart wool coat, I pick and choose per outfit!

See I like that EJ but worry that it wouldn't be long enough for skinnies...

CQuin Mon 03-Dec-12 19:36:16

Scandi style ones.
Sloppy joe : see warehouse and top shop.
Long open cardigans. Boden have a nice one.
Lumber jack shirts and long sleeve ts

If you arse needs covering are you sure skinnies are for you ?
Size 12? Come on. You must get rid if bloody tunics.

Can't get that link up. Can anyone l ink again for me please.

I'm size 12. I wear slouchy jumpers with a scarf and a fitted biker jacket over, or more fitted bum length tops (hard to find nice ones though), or even just a normal length jumper tbh. I don't mind my bum showing, so long as the top goes below my tummy.

Winter outfit:
Fitted thermal underwear.
Knee high socks under the skinnies.
Fitted long sleeve t-shirt or silk blouse
Cashmere fine knit jumper
Pea coat with big scarf

That's my style though, my body shape could be v different from yours even though we're both a 12.

I do longish but not baggy layers (baggy looks a bit tent-like on me) so vest tops, long-sleeved tops and knits

We sound similar travel, down to the thermal layer!

grin I cannot do anything floaty / ruffled / drapey / baggy / loose. Makes me look frumptastic.

I do sweater dresses or just sweaters that are fitted under the breasts but flare out over the tum... Kind of like warm, short skater dresses iyswim. There are plenty around and they are great for tums.

CQuin Mon 03-Dec-12 21:08:46

I just hate hate hate tunics.
Maternity.

I don't like dresses over jeans. It looks very late 80s. And tunics are awful - they really don't flatter anybody except tiny skinny women with no boobs, who can wear them as dresses with tights (NOT leggings or skinnies).

Dancergirl Mon 03-Dec-12 22:15:49

For when it's not too cold: some sort of jersey top. Boden good, especially their jersey henley this year - bought two.

When it's colder - fitted long/short sleeved tee (or vest top) with cardie on top worn open.

I don't like jumpers!

What remus said - tunics are the devil's work. Leggings should be kept in the home unless you are one of the 1% of teenagers who can wear them nonchalantly with a t-shirt.

TellMeLater Tue 04-Dec-12 07:28:09

What is the difference between a tunic and a dress pleasevery confused, I have a stripy tunic but its fitted - kind of Breton style ....what is the thing to avoid with tunics, what makes you hate them so much because they often just look like dresses with a difference name.

MrsHoarder Tue 04-Dec-12 07:34:09

I have a sleeveless jumper which is nicely fitted and just covers my bum stood up. With long sleeve t shirts layered underneath.

Or just the long sleeve t shirts under my coat if I don't plan to take it off. Once home I snuggle up in a big wrap/shawl.

CaptainWentworth Tue 04-Dec-12 08:10:03

I'm a size 12 and when I first started wearing skinnies I felt my bum must be covered at all times. However as I've worn them more and more, I've realised it can be more flattering to wear normal-ish length tops, as long as the actual waistband of the jeans is well covered.

I like dark blue or black skinnies with a cashmere boyfriend jumper (pure collection have a nice one this year although it's round neck; v neck is probably more flattering) and grey suede ankle boots with a small heel. I also find totally flat ankle boots make me look a bit stumpy (am 5'3) although flat riding boots over skinnies look ok. Also have a few nice jumpers/ cardies from Whistles (they do good sales) as they tend to do loose-ish but not frumpy ones, often in wool.

I layer up with black, white or navy long sleeve scoop neck t shirts from Boden and M&S (they used to be Limited Collection but now I think the same style is called the layering top in the Indigo range).

I got a jumper described as 'trapeze' from White Company recently which looked ever so flattering on the model, but made me look pregnant so went straight back - won't be going for that shape again!

Captain
Where are these: "grey suede ankle boots with a small heel" from?
I am looking for something similar.

For me, the difference between a dress and a tunic is the fit and the length. A tunic is looser than a mini-dress and shorter than a proper dress.
