Do I really NEED a Babyliss Big Hair? I've heard a lot of people say it's the dog's bollocks but is it? Really? And is it better for short hair or long hair? And why?

Please be gentle, I'm a Style&Beauty virgin....

And is it any good for very thick hair? I've seen them in Boots and I'm considering blowing my stash of points on it.

I have long quite thick hair & i thought it was shit tbh,it didnt do much for my hair except snap a lot off mid length.I think it is better suited to mid/short hair.

I have just bought the instyler from work (i work in Boots) its £99.99 but i used some of my points & i find that better on my length hair.

It is this www.boots.com/en/Instyler/

I love love love my BBH. My hair isn't very thick but is quite long (down to my boobs) with lots of layers. The BBH gives is lots of volume and leaves it shiny and soft.

The first time I used it I got all hot and bothered and didn't quite take to it. But I did some research (I think there might be some videos on YouTube) and got the hang of it pretty quick. The trick is to make sure your hair is 90% dry and use the BBH on small sections of hair. Good luck.

DTBIC, when is the Christmas stuff coming in to Boots?

Sorry for thread hijack OP.

I have fine hair and I don't like it on mine! In fact I'm going to dig mine out and sell it!

SayCoolNowSayWhip Tue 13-Sep-11 21:01:21

Thanks for the replies.... Thinking I might hold off on buying one for now smile

MrsBloomingTroll Tue 13-Sep-11 21:13:55

Still love mine! Got long, thick hair and a new baby, so precisely no time to spend on my appearance, but the BBH still gets me out of the house looking presentable.

The Babyliss Root Boost is good on thinner hair.

MillyR, christmas goodies in a couple of weeks, there are some gorgeous things this yr too.

PuppyMonkey Tue 13-Sep-11 21:19:18

Tbh, it's not as good as I was hoping. My hair looks nice for the first hour or so, then it seems to go frizzy. And if I sleep on it, the next day it looks awful. I hardly use mine now. Probably just my hair though.

MillyR Tue 13-Sep-11 21:19:47

Thanks. Can I also ask, is the Soap and Glory big gift always the one that gets put on the really good offer in the last week of Christmas offers (if that makes sense)?

PuppyMonkey Tue 13-Sep-11 21:20:22

I have thick mid length hair btw, layered at front.

DoingTheBestICan Tue 13-Sep-11 21:32:54

We honestly dont know what the killer offers are until the day before, they always happen on a friday & they prob will have a S&G one.

It is a miracle. Truly totally wonderful.

If I dry my naturally frizzy curly hair with the BBH it is nice and shiny and looks like I had it blown out.

Here is the magic - if it rains on my head (and this tis the UK, it rains on my head a lot) my hair does not frizz but curl. I don't know who the BBH can stop my hair from frizzing in the rain but it does. It is a gift from the hair gods to me as I become middle aged. Yes, I have grey hairs and wrinkles that stay on my face even when I'm not smiling, but now the gods have given me non-frizzy hair thanks to BBH.

The first day I wash my hair, use moroccan oil, and use the BBH. The next day I use a curling rod to shape curls. No frizz. It is the best hair ever.

Parasaurolophus Tue 13-Sep-11 21:48:45

I should add that I have shoulder length hair and have plenty of experience with moroccan oil, ghds, rollers, etc. It is the BBH that has made the difference.

S'alright on my shoulder length fine hair, bit I have to dry my hair upside-down first to get some body in it.

ireallyagreewithyou Wed 14-Sep-11 07:40:43

I've almost stopped using mine

noddyholder Wed 14-Sep-11 08:00:22

It is a fad and will be in the bargain bucket with foot spas and milk frothers save your money and sleep in your rollers!

ajandjjmum Wed 14-Sep-11 08:15:49

I'm well disappointed with it. My hair is fairly short and fairly thin and it does nothing for it at all. I've watched the Youtube videos on how to use - I just can't get it to work for me.

ferfer Wed 14-Sep-11 08:19:14

i was disappointed (have quite short hair). It made my hair very sleek and shiny but weirdly flat at the same time. I was sad as had been hoping for glamorous swishy hair.

It's good as long as you don't expect miracles and realise it's the same as using a brush and hairdryer but quicker.

I now rough dry my hair with a hairdryer for 5 minutes and then style it for 5 with the BBH - it then stays fine all day. So that's completely fine hair for 10 minutes work.

If I'm going out I spend longer and use product to increase the volume - then I get salon dried hair for 30-40 minutes work.

I have fine, shoulder length hair.

ComradeJing Wed 14-Sep-11 08:43:46

I bought mine recently. It is absolutely fantastic and as someone very, very lazy it is a godsend.

LaBag Wed 14-Sep-11 08:47:14

I have very fine shoulder length hair and I don't know what I'd do without my Babyliss now.
