webchat idea - what do other mumsnetters think?

I had an idea for a webchat and have run it past hq. But they'd like to see what other mumsnetters think and what the popular opinion is.

I suggested the possibility of getting Mara Clarke, founder of the abortion support network on to do with a webchat. ASN help Irish and northern Irish women travel to England to access abortions.

In light of the current political climate and the very recent documentary on BBC3 about Ireland and abortion, it could be a very interesting discussion.

What does everyone else think?

Bump.

Seconded, hugely. Watching this documentary I would love to know what we could do to help.

Also the more we talk about it, the better. The new Pregnancy Choices board shows how much even in this country, where abortion is legal, it is still difficult to talk about it.

Yes please, brilliant charity who have run an outstanding fundraising campaign.

RabidFairy · 05/02/2015 21:05

What a wonderful idea. I fully 100% support this.

Enormouse · 05/02/2015 21:07

puffins and petula, I know you're pretty active and well respected on fwr, would you take the idea to the bluestocking?

And thanks thurlow. You're a great support on pregnancy choices.

Good idea, have done so

Tapirbackrider · 05/02/2015 21:16

Yes, a brilliant idea - I fully support this.

Greenstone · 05/02/2015 21:19

Yes

NiamhNext · 05/02/2015 21:29

Yes that would be a positive thingbto do, and I trust Mumsnet to conduct the whole thing in a sensitive way.

I am a little worried about strong feelings getting the better of some people if it is an open chat though, and that beening felt keenly by some who don't deserve to go through that pain.

A Q and A thread might be an alternative, but as I say, I trust MN to be able to do a webchat well and I welcome that.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 05/02/2015 21:36

Yes, I would support this.

FamiliesShareGerms · 05/02/2015 21:36

Yes please

But with MNHQ ready to zap invasion posts

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 05/02/2015 22:06

Yes, it should be MNetters opinions - not a load of new joiners from Abort67 (which will happen).

PacificDogwood · 05/02/2015 22:08

Oh yes, v good idea - thanks for thinking of her and taking your idea to MNHQ, Enormouse.

Enormouse · 05/02/2015 22:09

Can hq lock it in some way? Dawn Purvis' web chat went quite well.

OP posts:
Enormouse · 05/02/2015 22:10

Actually, that wasn't a chat was it? It was a blog type entry.

OP posts:
Cocolepew · 05/02/2015 22:11

Dawn Purvis did a webchat? How did I miss that Confused?

Cocolepew · 05/02/2015 22:11

Ha, xpost. Yes it was a blog thingy.

twofingerstoGideon · 05/02/2015 22:36

Excellent idea. Sabrina's point about contributors is a good one.

wigglesrock · 05/02/2015 22:57

Yes, I think it's a good idea too

AskBasil · 05/02/2015 23:59

Yes I'd support this

Greenrememberedhills · 06/02/2015 09:44

Well done.

Artifexmumdi · 06/02/2015 10:29

Me too

weebarra · 06/02/2015 10:32

Yes, great idea. Have to ensure it didn't get hijacked, but I'm sure HQ will be able to do that.
