Felicitations and general rejoicing! Links will soon be converting automatically!

We know that you've all wanted links to convert automatically for a while now (so have we - what's with that tick box nonsense?) and the lovely tech team have now made our dreams a reality.

Links will soon be converting automatically on boards. If you don't want a link to convert automatically - when linking to troll websites and the like - stick some spaces in the URL and it will remain as plain text.

.

Enjoy!

What if we want to link without displaying the URL?

madeupstuff · 01/04/2014 17:07

Oh good. Don't break that y'all.

AmyMumsnet · 01/04/2014 17:11

The square brackets will still work if you want to use them instead.

Gah! still doesn't work.

DinoSnores · 01/04/2014 23:26

Not yet, thought it was because skinny's links work.

about bloody timeGrin

AmyMumsnet · 02/04/2014 09:51

It should kick in some time today, we'll try and let you know when it's officially up-and-running although you'll probably spot it before us.

Usual the brackets will still work as normal.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/04/2014 11:27

Is this meant to be working yet?

RowanMumsnet · 03/04/2014 11:31

It is, yes. It doesn't work on the app yet (it will do when we have our new app though), and there seems to be a glitch on it with the mobile version on Safari - but otherwise it should work!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/04/2014 11:37

I'm on mobile using chrome/android and it's not working
...

RowanMumsnet · 03/04/2014 11:42

Aha, thank you (and sorry) - will pass that on

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/04/2014 16:00

Quick test

BBC.co.uk

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/04/2014 16:02

OK.

The tick box for converting links has gone, but obviously the above link hasn't worked.

What format is required for an auto link?
Does it need www?

RowanMumsnet · 03/04/2014 16:06

www.bbc.co.uk/

RowanMumsnet · 03/04/2014 16:06

looks like www. but not

skinnyflatwhite · 03/04/2014 16:09

I win I win!!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/04/2014 16:12

But if the web address does not include www you need to use (though the http does not show up)

Eg local.Mumsnet.com/Camden

Gives local.Mumsnet.com/Camden

Local.Mumsnet.com/Glasgow doesn't work...

RowanMumsnet · 04/04/2014 09:51

Aha, thank you
