Forgotten to organise an Easter bonnet? Don't panic - we have the solution to your woes.

Watch our super-fast, super-simple Easter Bunny Bonnet video - all you need is a some card, one of those lovely googly eyes (or a felt tip pen), and a cotton wool ball. Works for both girls and bonnet-resistant boys - and positively no crafting talent required, we absolutely promise.

Here's the bunny template - now go, go, go!

UPDATE: we've now added another very easy Easter Bonnet video to the bottom. It's a sheepy spectacular - unisex, and rather suave...

And here's the new sheepy Easter bonnet video:

Cute and simple!

We have done our bonnets/hats but other tips are cheap kits available in Sainsbury or poundland.

Pics are of ds4's Easter hat, he originally wanted Jesus on a cross... I persuaded him that wasn't a great idea so he went with "hop" theme!

I would have loved to have seen the Jesus on the Cross effort!

SarahMumsnet · 31/03/2014 15:40

5madthings I am in awe. IN AWE.

5madthings · 31/03/2014 15:54

We used the hat we made for world book day, he was Mr sstrong. The flowers are made from pipe cleaners, cut out flowers and buttons. Then it's just tissue paper, printed ppics from 'hop' and jelly beans and chicks stuck on. Oh and the rabbit ears are from a headband.

He had wanted Jesus on the cross complete with blood and nails and the cave...

Dd has a straw hat with lots of the flowers and some lambs and chicks and eggs.

A glue gun is your friend! Very cheap from Amazon.

ha ha, then we'll be able to tell which other mums in the class are MNers.

pictish · 31/03/2014 20:10

5madthings that is fantastic!!

Quinteszilla · 31/03/2014 23:07

Is Easter bonnet similar concept to an Easter Garden?

elQuintoConyo · 01/04/2014 08:44

My friend's son, whilst watching the Spanish procession (the creepy-looking men in robes and spikey hats) asked of the float they were carrying: " why's Jesus riding Shrek's donkey?"

I shall be making the Mumsnet hat with my 2yo and class of 10 year olds. Nice and easy, thanks Smile

Eek that's short notice!

Our school ddoes them every year and I have had one or more kids at the School for the last eight years so I know it's standard but we normally get a good week or more notice.

We do Xmas hats as well each year.

There have been some fab ones at our school!

They are brilliant, 5mad! This is the first year I any of my DCs have had to make one, so the ideas are useful. Although DD3 has it firmly in her head that it has to be identical to the hat in one of her favourite books. I foresee a few tantrums before parade day.

HesterShaw · 01/04/2014 22:47

Please please can someone do another chicks being chased by fox bonnet. I still snigger helplessly at that!

MyLatest · 01/04/2014 23:51

The fox and chicks bonnet still makes me give a happy sigh :o

5madthings · 02/04/2014 07:57

It's Easter bonnet ans egg hunt at school today and then Easter fair after, I have excited children!

5madthings · 02/04/2014 11:49

The hats at school were aamazing today, was great seeing all the kids going in with them, glad I don't have to choose the winner!

imip · 02/04/2014 18:31

A glue gun you say, 5? Everything seems stuck on really well. Dd2 has gone into meltdown mode because Sellotape won't work (no shit!).

Glue gun may save my hide in the future!

5madthings · 02/04/2014 18:35

Yes glue guns rock! You can get themir about £4 on Amazon and they sell the glue sticks in bulk really cheap as well.

My dd won a prize for her hat ttoday, it was fantastic to see all the kids lined up at the Easter fair wearing them!

Panzee · 02/04/2014 20:58

I think the murderous fox bonnet might have been the first thread I ever read on Mumsnet. It was truly wonderful. :)

imip · 02/04/2014 21:00

I couldn't wait ... I got the stanley one, because I knew the name and reviews looked good. Was £7. I am unreasonably excited about this purchase.... Am also now imagining glue sequins onto tutus and all sorts of shit Smile

5madthings · 02/04/2014 21:07

Ha ha you will love it, I went round my house looking for things to glue when I first got mine!

Best Easter bonnet ever!

SirRaymondClench · 02/04/2014 21:23

Can I show you my effort?
I made it with paper mache and two balloons and then felt.
I am in the midst of a menopausal HRT meltdown so can't tell if what I've made is actually shit but it IS a hat (just haven't decorated the brim yet)
Be gentle with me or I will probs do myself in (not really though)
