Anyone else being repeatedly asked to save a file called seg.js from ib.adnxs.com?
I've run a virus scan and it was clean, and this is ONLY happening on mumsnet.
No way I'm downloading anything I didn't directly click on by the way.

Me too, whats going on?

InkySkink · 14/08/2013 20:21

I think it may be a virus in the ads.
From what I saw when I Google it.

I'm getting that too - only on MN.

MissFenella · 14/08/2013 21:17

pipsqueak · 14/08/2013 21:24

me too

YoniBottsBumgina · 14/08/2013 21:25

It sounds like a javascript file. I wouldn't download or install it. Sounds like it's a plugin for an ad, but it could be sneaky malware.

You may want to report your OP asap so that tech sees it!

YoniBottsBumgina · 14/08/2013 21:27

It seems like the ads are getting worse on here :( I currently have adblocker installed and I usually whitelist mumsnet since so much of their revenue comes from ads, but I had to activate it again when there was a creepy ad which would start playing music about 5 minutes after I'd loaded a page! I was going to deactivate it again but now I've seen this I think I'll hold off.

Chanatan · 14/08/2013 21:30

Malwarebytes I would download and scan pc to see if you have picked up any nasties.I always use adblock so never see any ads.

ImperialBlether · 14/08/2013 21:39

I'm getting this, too! I did as Chanatan said and it said there was a virus which it's got rid of. Time will tell whether the pop up will stop.

Thanks for the recommendation, Chanatan.

OliviaIsOffTheGinMumsnet · 14/08/2013 21:39

oh dear that doens't sound good.
Let me find out what's occurring.

JacqueslePeacock · 14/08/2013 21:41

There are complaints about this on the systweak thread as well...

Chanatan · 14/08/2013 21:41

Olivia I had a quick google and something similar happened on Pistonheads a while back,it was ad related.

ImperialBlether · 14/08/2013 21:43

What's occurring? Are you in Gavin and Stacey?

mrstalbear · 14/08/2013 21:47

OliviaIsOffTheGinMumsnet · 14/08/2013 22:22

Right then OP
First of all are you using Internet Explorer to view this ? If not what are you using?
Second of all, please can you tell us WHAT the ad is that you're seeing when being asked to download weirdy stuff?

Yes just pops up at the bottom of the screen.
Internet Explorer

Trigglesx · 14/08/2013 22:33

IE, yes, only on MN pages and have been getting it all evening. Had no idea it was linked to an ad, so no clue what ad. Just pops up when changing pages on MN.

OliviaIsOffTheGinMumsnet · 14/08/2013 22:40

Do you know which topics youre on?

Yonihadtoask · 14/08/2013 22:44

Oh I was getting that too.

I was on shorthaul, step parenting and chat?

FraterculaArctica · 14/08/2013 22:45

Yes, Internet Explorer. Haven't noticed it being connected to any particular ads.

GetStuffezd · 14/08/2013 22:45

Yes I'm getting it too! For days. Only MN. Apparently randomly. It's when I'm on laptop, using IE.

thornrose · 14/08/2013 22:45

I'm getting it too, along with the hunky weight loss man that scares doctors!

GetStuffezd · 14/08/2013 22:46

I googled it and it said something about malware....
