Can I ask a question about attaching a thread on an email to a possible non mumsnetter?

I want to cut and paste a thread to my friend. If I don't log on but cut, paste and send thread via email, will my username show up anywhere on the sent thread. I dont want to out myself, iyswim.

Does any of that make sense?

Why not cut and paste the thread title in the bar at the top of your screen - like this...

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1427625-Can-I-ask-a-question-about-attaching-a-thread-on-an-email-to-a-possible-non-mumsnetter

My email will convert that into a link.

jalopy · 13/03/2012 19:45

Yes but once she clicks on the link, will my username show up on the bottom of any pages?

Do it anyway then namechange?

QueenOfFlippingEverything · 13/03/2012 19:46

Your username will only show up at the bottom if you are logged in on the computer on which the link is opened - if that makes sense?

If she clicked on 'Add a message', would she be logged as me? Does that make sense? I sound paranoid, don't I? Grin

No, she wouldn't. Because you are logged in on your computer - you can't be logged in on two computers/IP addresses at once. So, when she opens the link, she will not be logged in as anyone. She will just see what non-members see when they look at MN threads. At the bottom it will say 'please register or log in to post' or something like that.

jalopy · 13/03/2012 19:53

Ah, bless you. Many thanks.

She can't possibly be logged as you, regardless of any messages sent and of the log-in status of those who sent them, unless she has logged in as you on her own computer. Really. Smile

Try it - save the email with the link as a draft - then log out of MN, return to the email, and click the link and see what you see.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2012 19:55

That's not true Queen. You can be logged on from multiple locations.

But, no, they won't be logged in as you.

QueenOfFlippingEverything · 13/03/2012 20:19

Really? My MN is set to 'remember me until I log out', but if I log in from another computer, when I go back to my laptop it has logged me out and I have to log in again.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2012 20:28

I am currently logged in on this computer, my phone and my laptop. I have no idea why you get logged out.

You learn something new every day! I just assumed it was to do with making it harder for people to post under two names at once or something.
