Anyone knows anything about "vertical values" and whether they are less powerful showers?

I am also looking into this but dont know anything about the showers you mention (we have a Mira electric shower at the moment which is not great, we are wanting to upgrade).

The general consensus is that Aqualisa are the best, but they are very pricey.
I do like the look of the Mira Minibelle especially, have read its good for small shower enclosures, due to small valve etc.

Electric showers are especially poor performers in winter as you have to slow the water down to heat it. We just installed Mira Miniluxe in another bathroom and it fine but not as powerful as the Mira Excel that we had in previous house. Trouble is that it doesn't look as elegant

I have noticed about our electric shower bewing a bit less powerful in the winter.

I like the look of this thermostatic shower and it came highly recommended by a good local bathroom showroom

www.aqualisa.co.uk/Our-products/Browse-showers-by-range/HiQu-Digital/HiQu-Shower/Concealed-with-adjustable-height-head-/?area=3244

They were doing a good discount too so it was much cheaper than the price on the Aqualisa site.

many thanks. I am going for exposed value for long term maintenance. Concealed looks great but when it breaks....!

The ezposed valves look very good I think, slightly retro, I like the ones with both an overhead rose and a shower attachment, like this

I've just had 2 aqualisa showers installed. The best showers ever and all the workings are in the loft so access is a piece of cake if they need to be looked at.

TDaDa · 03/10/2010 09:48

Alouiseg- which ones did you get? thanks

OP posts:
TDaDa · 03/10/2010 09:49

Alouiseg- are your thermostatic? These don't have too many moving parts other than the valves?

The Aqualisa Quartz and the Aqualisa Quartz with the Axis control panel.

I "think" it's thermostatic Confused the parts are all in the loft and ypu press the button outside the shower to turn it on then the lights stop flashing when it's at the requid temperature.

TDaDa · 03/10/2010 09:58

Wow...does it make lattes?

If only!

I should post some pics seeing as we're all bathroom obsessives at the moment.

I've got 2 extensions starting in a fortnight.

That's lovely Leningrad, we're doing a garden room and porch next. After living here for 13 years we're finally getting down to the good stuff.

I thought that id hate the disruption but the finished (nearly) product is so fab that it negates all the hassle.

Will you need pp for the garden room or can you get away with permitted development?

TheNextMrsDepp · 03/10/2010 12:46

Ooh, just bought an Aqualisa Quartz, it's sitting in the landing waiting to be installed in our shiny new en suite. We got the pumped version as we have a low pressure gravity-fed system.

Disappointed to hear it doesn't make lattes, Alouiseg, but looking forward to a decent shower of a morning.

I love the boarded look, some gorgeous grey/green composites about at the moment that I'd like to cover our render with.

The next MrsDepp, we've got the pumped version too, my kids have never been so clean!

TheNextMrsDepp · 03/10/2010 12:59

Alouiseg, do you ever find you run out of hot water? If the shower's that powerful, I'm concerned it might suck our hot water tank dry in seconds!

Alouiseg · 03/10/2010 13:09

Not yet, but it is early days, 4 of us have have showered in 2 showers in a one hour slot. I tend to have our hot water on while we're showering.

KristinaM · 03/10/2010 13:11

Yes defo go for exposed valve. We have already replaced ours once and it's 6 years old

Alouiseg · 03/10/2010 13:20

Lenin just tweeted you some shower valve pics.
