January - I really want to go back to Cafe Continental in Durham! Any takers for coffee & cake?

spiggy · 15/12/2009 20:04

Wow you are organised Juney!

Coffee and cakes sounds good to me. My day off work is Tuesdays but I can swap with DP and have Monday instead if I need to.

Indith · 04/01/2010 14:46

Oh hello

I am always up for cake

I thought you were plotting to get us away from Durham though? Not that I'm complainng

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2010 14:56

hi

days depends on what we're doing, althoiugh fridays no good. If it's toddler friendly then any day fine, otherwise thursday best. not good at controlling 2 of them away from a safe environment!

juneybean · 04/01/2010 15:19

Ooo I will get you away haha but the lure of Cafe Continental is too strong.

How about Thursday 21st?

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 04/01/2010 17:49

Oh well done Juney!

Yes as long as it is a toddler friendly environment, I can go most days, not Tuesday or Wednesday mornings though.

Thursday is probably the best day for me.

ButterPie · 06/01/2010 00:29

Hi- LissyGlitter here under my new name
I'm up for meeting any time/place, but I don't drive so public transportable please (or I can give petrol money to anyone who can fit me and my two DDs in a car from washington)

stickylittlefingers · 06/01/2010 14:58

hello - can't make daytime - but just wanted to say hello and happy new year to everyone

juneybean · 06/01/2010 16:20

Lissy on the 21st I've picked a day I'm not working so I'll have space for tiny ones car seat (will already have a suitable car seat for M)

OP posts:
ButterPie · 06/01/2010 17:19

Brill, thanks

Intergalactic · 07/01/2010 17:34

Ooh, can I possibly sign up for this? I'm always up for meeting more people round Durham. I have a 16mo DS at the moment and am due DC2 (gender unknown!) in April. I live in a village outside of Durham but happy to travel when my car isn't buried under a foot of snow!

juneybean · 07/01/2010 17:52

Yes of course! The more the merrier!

Hoping the snow has gone away by the 21st!

Is the 21st OK for most that want to come?

With a provisional time of 10.30am ?

OP posts:
ButterPie · 07/01/2010 18:15

ok by me!

BouncingTurtle · 08/01/2010 07:12

Yes I can meet up then.
Where shall we go?

juneybean · 08/01/2010 10:48

Cafe Continental as per my OP

OP posts:
Indith · 08/01/2010 12:13

You'll get addicted juney

Ok 21st. 10.30 is fine though I'll most likely be on the bus so it is utterly freezing I shall pull out as witht he bus times I'll have to make a bit of a day of it and ds the skinny whatsit gets so cold really quickly no matter how many layers I put on him!

BouncingTurtle · 08/01/2010 20:16

Oh yes!

That's the one we went to last time, with all the lovely cakes!

juneybean · 09/01/2010 20:39

That's the one! I definitely want to try the fish cakes again without me being poorly this time lol

OP posts:
DrGB · 11/01/2010 17:22

Um, hello! waves

V new to all this but v glad to see there's people in Durham I can plug for information and opinions!

Being a mere 10 weeks along, I haven't told the boss or the aged Ps yet, so 21/01 is probably unwise lest I am spotted and rumours spread and feelings are hurt (not to mention it's the first week of term, so I'll probably be drowning in panicked dissertation students!) but ... will there be more gatherings afterwards? Is it monthly or something?

Anyway, hello!

Indith · 12/01/2010 11:54

Hello Dr

Have a look here too for more of the North East types.

juney doesn't have any dcs, last time we met at Cafe Continental I managed to dump mine on dh so was without children, I doubt it would spark idle chatter if you were spotted having coffee with some friends Do come along if you are able.

I thought all dreaded D panic was reserved for the night before the deadline when the binders tell you they can't do it in time and you still have not proof read the bloody thing

If we don't see you on the 21st we do try to meet on a fairly regular basis, last one was in December, BouncingTurtle is leaving us soon so we will have to drag her out of an evening without children again, that was fun Full sentences without breaking off to say "yes dear? No! that is a SHARING toy!"

spiggy · 12/01/2010 22:23

Late to this (work busy and children refusing to sleep at night) can't do the 21st as it is DS's birthday and we are going to visit Grandma's so she can see the kids and give them horrible plastic tat their Christmas and birthday pressies.

A super meet in Feb sounds good, will def try and come to that one.

DrGB · 13/01/2010 09:47

Ah okay, thanks Indith, I'll see how Wednesday afternoon goes and whether I can spend Thursday AM doing reading (best done in a cafe anyway!).

Next week is going to be the first wave of "Doc, we ran our analyses over Christmas ... what do they mean?!" Bless 'em, we only spend two years training them in all this...

If I don't make next week I'll keep an eye out for the next one!

juneybean · 14/01/2010 13:02

Just bumping again since it's a week away:

Cafe Continental, 87 Elvet Bridge, Durham, County Durham, DH1 3AG

When: Thursday 21st Jan

Time: 10.30am

Where: In the first room as your enter the cafe?

Indith (+2)
JuneyBean
ButterPie (+2)
Intergalactic (+1)
BouncingTurtle (+1)
StealthPolarBear (+2) (I think?)
DrGB (Hopefully?)

Just looking at that list, are we all going to fit downstairs lol?

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 14/01/2010 17:16

Damn I think I've booked Daniel into nursery next Thursday!
I will ring them and find out. I can come without him, it's just I will have to leave before 12pm to go pick him up by 1pm.

Looking at that list Juney, I think you maybe right - and they'll a couple of toddlers running riot, possibly!

Blast this weather, otherwise I would suggest we pick up some cakey goodness from there and find some green space for the kids to run around in! If the ice is all gone by then, could we find somewhere?

FrameyMcFrame · 15/01/2010 10:48

I'd love to come to a North East Meetup but I work on Weds and Thursday so no can do this one.
I will keep looking out for the one in Feb though.

juneybean · 17/01/2010 14:29

I think it should be fairly quiet on a Thursday so maybe we can just take up the whole of the downstairs lol

Hope to see you at the next one Framey
