That is extraordinary. It must have been scary, yes, but it also seems like an enormous privilege. I bet that the child will treasure the recording when s/he is older.

ZZZenAgain Wed 19-Dec-12 10:42:49

heck

DameMargotFountain Wed 19-Dec-12 10:43:08

fucking hell shock

WowOoo Wed 19-Dec-12 10:43:34

Good Lord! The dad didn't seem to notice for a moment. I suppose a toddler is prey sized. how scary.

ChestnutsRoastingonaWitchesTit Wed 19-Dec-12 10:44:54

Lucky baby. No harm done. The lesson is don't leave your baby sat on the grass by itself while there are large predatory animals about. I guess.

Bearandcub Wed 19-Dec-12 10:45:18

That's why I put mine in high-vis vests when we go to the park, so we can track them in the sky when they get snatched by birds of prey. wink

ZZZenAgain Wed 19-Dec-12 10:47:07

why is the dc lucky and why is it an enormous privilege to be grabbed by a bird of prey and then dropped?

probably a fake. seems there is quite a bit of cyncsism about this

ItsAllGoingToBeFine Wed 19-Dec-12 10:50:01

Hmm, I am not convinced. It is pretty unusual for them to go for anything bigger than a rabbit. Can't watch the video, did toddler happen to be wearing a rabbit skin hat?

Sounds v v unlikely to me.

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

actually i can't believe it can be a fake. who would orchestrate that shock

Iheartpasties Wed 19-Dec-12 10:51:32

surely its not real??

peeriebear Wed 19-Dec-12 10:52:00

He's lucky because he was too heavy to be carried any higher than about two feet before being dropped!
He will dine out on that story when he's older. "I was THAT kid!"

TheseGoToEleven Wed 19-Dec-12 10:55:26

I believe it, I have known of eagles that snatched dogs.

SweetMingePie Wed 19-Dec-12 10:56:13

Wow!

If you watch the video towards the end it is slowed right down and you can see the baby being snatched and then dropped by the bird.

PurpleTinsel Wed 19-Dec-12 10:56:44

shock

Lucky he was too heavy to be carried further!

Piffpaffpoff Wed 19-Dec-12 11:02:00

I say fake.

flowerytaleofNewYork Wed 19-Dec-12 11:07:08

I believe it, looks real to me. They take foxes, young deer, lambs, all sorts, equal to their own weight so I totally believe he had a bash at taking a toddler.

I cant see how they'd fake it? it's definitely a real bird, and a real child.

no fake as in a trained bird

The best comment I've heard about this was:

"This all could have been averted if the baby had its own eagle."

Which is both horrible and amusing in equal measures
