Apologies in advance if the detail offends anyone! DIY fanjo 'surgery' under discussion!
OK, so I've had a Bartholin'c Cyst for well over a year. It's been about the size of a very large marble but hasn't caused any pain or discomfort. The GP said just to ignore it but I didn't want a lumpy lopsided fanjo thank you very much.
Anyway, this evening I just decided that I'd had enough of it - wine may have played a part
- and having read various articles on the web about surgery, draining and abcesses I took the plunge and popped the damn thing. I used a sterilised needle, made a little hole and squeezed and squeezed. Lots and lots of gunk came out, not pus or blood, looked more like erm old secretions, very sticky and slimy yuk, and the lump has now gone completely. I've washed and cleaned the area with anti-septic but do I need to do anything else? Have I done a bad, bad thing????
don't know, but not sure I could have resisted the urge either. Must be a bit like when you have a big zit on your face that you just HAVE to squeeze!
I would have done the same. I got a giant spot on the area last month and loved squeezing it.
I've also dug a needle into my arm before when i got cat scratch disease and an enormous amount of pus came out.
It will feel lovely in a couple of days
drink more wine.
Not sure? I had one for ages and it seemed to just go? Glad you seem ok though.
Thank you ladies. As you might have guessed I am a dedicated squeezer too. I love nothing more than digging out an ingrowing hair
but thought this might be a step too far. My son hid from me during puberty knowing my liking for spot squeezing!
So far so good anyway and I feel so much better that the damn thing seems to have gone. I'll keep a close eye on it over the next few days and am due a smear test in the next couple of weeks so can point it out to the doctor if things don't go well. Hmmm, the GP's attitude just annoyed me. Bet he wouldn't have just ignored a large marble sized lump on his cock!!
Am having more wine thank you Laurie!!
That must have been great! (secret squeezer)
I love squeezing and am so
I would put salt or savlon in the bath for a few days and keep an eye on it.
<applauds>
pmsl <sorry>
yes drink more wine and it will be fantastic.
lmao
[secret squeezer too]
perhaps carry on the wine for the next 24-48 hours? medicinally, as an analgesic, of course
Wooooooow.
I thinky you were right to self operate. It would have driven me crazy..
How is it?
Oh yes you did the correct thing
I love squeezing spots!!
How theraputic!!!
Oh thats what i have [boils kettle whilst looking for needle]
Just make sure you keep an eye on it (so to speak) in case something goes septic....
(both my Bartholins glands had cysts, eventually became abcesses, and had to be operated on.... grim and painful).
Bathe in salty water as well. Really salty water. Apparently it helps draw out all the fluid in the cyst.
(wish I had done that rather than go through all the horrors of abcesses and surgeries!)
Dear ladies, I am so glad I'm not the only one who couldn't leave something like that alone. I must confess - it was soooooo satisfying and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
It seems to have healed up nicely, no swelling, infection or pain. It's just like it was never there. I suppose the real test will be doing the sex thing with DP but he's working away at the moment and not back to the weekend so it has another day or so to recover.
louii - the only pain was sticking the needle in and that didn't last long. There was no pain whatsoever during the squeezing process. Just make sure everywhere, including your hands, the needle and your bits are super clean.
orangina - sorry to hear about your trauma. That was what I was trying to avoid but I realise that it could have - and possibly still could - come back and bite me.
So far so good anyway
and am still self medicating with wine.
Bellawella, sounds so satisfying, well done.
Love the 'bet he wouldnt have ignored a cyst the size of a marble on his cock' comment.
Have a lump on my arm currently that wont come to a head and has no outlet, am now very tempted to sterilise a needle.
There was a similar thread a while back to yours and someone linked to www.popthatzit.com that will either interest or totally horrify you. Look at your perril (sp?)
Hi im new to this site and have really enjoyed reading about other peoples experiences with cysts and bursting them!! (strangely I feel sick whilst reading about pus but secretly love it!) I have quite a large cyst on my head under my hair and am VERY tempted to pop it!!
Any thoughts or advice on this...
LilMiss - yes do pop it but go in the bath and soak your head first so the skin is softer, and draw outwards rather than squeezing inwards (prevents pushing bacteria deeper in and also lowers the amount of damage to the skin).
Bellawella - well good for you for doing it but do keep a close eye on it (that may be hard without a mirror) for signs of infection. Oh and I'll lay off the sex for a week or so. You can get internal bruising from these popping so I'm guessing lancing it is the same and it's quite painful very suddenly if a hard thing hits a soft and bruised thing IYSWIM
You've just reminded me that I used to have one, but somehow went away after being pregnant! I even had a date for surgery, but managed to give the OB/GYN the slip!
Hope it doesn't come back. I think that's essentially what they would have done if you had surgery, although think there's a magic wand they use
I am transfixed.
Monitor the situation.
I had 'marsupialisation' (ie. they popped it in hospital and then stitched the little hole back up). It got infected and was gross. It healed and went away...then came back and has been there ever since. Just keep an eye out. Once the pop, they are prone to infection.

i thought doctors dealt with bartholins.....why do they occur?
i have home drained a ganglion
ROFL ! What is it with this place tonght ! First, fanjo deodorants and now this. PMSL
just what I needed after the last couple of days.
I, too, love nothing better than squeezing out an ingrown hair on my lady garden. It must have been so satisfying bella !
