Week 30 - Satisfy Your Hunger

Have you ever eaten a meal only to find yourself hungry an hour later? Chances are that 1) you didn't eat enough, or 2) you didn't eat enough of the right kinds of food. Your body needs sufficient amounts of all nutrients to run efficiently, and when it doesn't get them, it will be hungry for more food in the hopes of getting those nutrients when you do eat again.

The challenge - Eat balanced and nutritious meals and snacks so you feel satiated and energized throughout the day.

Interesting idea. I wonder if it is true. I have no clue.

I have to say lchf = not hungry, and definitely not in the cravy way I am when eating carbs, but it is quite difficult to achieve. You have to be very careful of what you eat.

I don't like eating when I'm not hungry and can't eat till I'm stuffed.

I tend to have a high protein lunch, fish or eggs. Cheese and/or fruit about 4pm and meat/ chicken with veg or salad at night.

A bit of nutty chocolate now!

Re-reading this chapter, she talks a lot about GI and low GI foods. I read a book about the GI diet before on the recommendation of my cousin who has child-onset diabetes. I'll have a think about it some more.

Actually, I was reading a paper at work about a study that showed a link between low zinc levels and craving spicy food or carbonated drinks. It said that the preservatives in ready-meals can lower our zinc levels.

I think the balanced meals with a little bit of chocolate thrown in is a great plan.

Fascinating and bizarre how too much or too little of these vitamins/ minerals/elements can affect our health and well-being so drastically.

I wonder if GPs should just test everyone for those things every year and prescribe accordingly.

There is alot more of that sort of thing in. Spain. I'm not sure what difference it makes to health outcomes but I generally think it's a good idea, prevention usually being cheaper than cure. They have a really good health system.

I definitely need to eat enough for each meal, then I'm fine. I'm still logging my food with mfp and how I feel, for instance, although I lc I ate really low carb yesterday (not intentionally) and felt a bit weird. It wasn't till I logged it that I realised. I think the hot weather has sent my appetite a bit weird and noting how I feel helps tweak my meals a bit. I used to be a real snacked but now I eat mostly 2 big meals.

I had read that eating a lot of junk makes you crave more food because your body wants more vitamins, minerals etc.
