What would it be and why?

Dh has been given some cash and is v keen to get sorted with a tablet as we only have a desktop computer at the moment. He has seen some tabs on offer in Tesco. I know nothing about this stuff! Does anyone else know of gpod models/prices avaulable this weekend?

This recent thread has some info - it started off being about iPhones and turned into a discussion about tablets.

One of the main contenders (depending on your price range) is probably the Kindle Fire. However - I'm assuming your DH wants to take possession of the device this weekend? Kindle Fire is sold in some places on the high street - Waterstones, Argos, etc.

Skiffen - they were. The Kindle Fire is the start of a new breed of Kindle with built in super-powers Grin - they are new on the market so you're not behind the times in the slightest.

I've just got an iPad this week. It is just so sexy Blush. I looked at all the others but this was the best.

I am in love with it.

Thank you trib!

Orange - I've resisted the lure of Apple stuff so far, but I'm thinking they've got to be popular for a reaon?!

We've just bought dd a nexus 7 for Xmas, but if we could have afforded it I would have picked an iPad.

I am trying to decide between the Samsung Galaxy Note (10.1") and the new Google Nexus 10, also made by Samsung. Tricky!

Is the Nexus 10 in stock anywhere, Woodlands?

My Samsung galaxy note is the first bit of tech I've really enjoyed and loved. One of the very few things that I've ever bought that has massively surpassed expectations.

Completely smitten!

The stylus is brilliant for annotating meeting papers and being able to connect to my pc by the usb port makes work type stuff a breeze and as for shopping and MumsNetting... Fab

Ooh I don't know tribpot. I'm waiting for an insurance payout on my old netbook before I can afford to buy anyway. good to hear a good report of the galaxy Note. it is £318 at argos plus £50 cashback.

That Argos deal sounds pretty unmissable. I already have a tablet but now semi-seriously considering that too!

Though after I posted that I thought I'd check john Lewis as I like to buy from there if I can, and it's the same price there.

Well, my insurance company just called to offer a replacement for my laptop and I asked for the Note instead. It will be with me tomorrow, yay! I just hope I can claim the cashback (and somehow I doubt it) as otherwise it really won't have been worth making an insurance claim. oh well.
