Citalopram and Vaproic acid for possible bipolar - any experiences?

I was presrcibed a lowdose of citalopram a couple of weeks ago For depression and anxiety - just 10mg to start. I have two months worth of this dose and then my GP may up the dose to 20mg depending on how I get on. Been taking it for 3 weeks and feel slightly better.

However, I had a manic episode (first one of my life, although always been prone to depression) over the summer, so GP has just this morning prescribed two months worth of valproic acid, a mood stabliser apparently?

Does anyone have any experience of these two drugs taken together for possible bipolar disorder? I am on the waiting list for a psychiatric appointment and proper assessment, by the way.

Tia
