Hi in abit of a mess here. I have been taking fluoxitine for four months now. Went back a fortnight ago to collect new prescription. Picked up tablets from a different chemist and ive been given the generic type not the trade ones! only just felt it a few days back but my mood has plummeted, no motivation, cant eat , walking up in night! feel like I did before starting the meds.. What shall I do?? i cant go on feeling like this..

They contain the same substance and the same amount of it, so don't be too quick to blame the tablets. Generic medication is normal, the NHS would be bankrupt without it. And even if they were to be slightly less effective, which is not the case, that would not make you feel like you did before the tablets. Maybe go have a word with your GP about what is really going on.

Thanks for the reply madmouse im not so sure that this is due to the meds, they are put together differently and they taste of cheap plastic. Nothing has changed so there has got to be a connection surely- has anyone experienced this

Sounds like you've made up your mind - good luck with it.

Could it be pyschosomatic (spelling?) Because you think they are the wrong ones they'll make you feel strange?
Have no experience, but i often call the pharmacist to ask Q's. They know lots about medicine and so you don't need to ask GP.
I've called Boots before. Even though I got this particular medicine from another chemist. They put my mind at rest and told me exactly what to do.
Try not to panic. It WILL all get sorted, OK?
