Opting for an October Odyssey with Jillian - still shredding as the nights draw in

I thought I'd start an October thread.

Everyone welcome - it doesn't matter if you've never tried a Jillian DVD before or if you've got the full set. A thread to keep us all motivated as we push on through October with Jillian.

I had a good day today - I finished level 2 of 30DS, started level 3 and did 6W6P L2D6. I'm having a rest day tomorrow because I'll be too stiff to do anything

Hello! I did 30DS L1D7 today and I am SO proud of myself for making sure that I do it every day. I thought it was getting easier but now I'm not so sure... The weights are feeling lighter but my calves are still struggling with the first lot of jump rope in the first cardio section. It's very hilly where we live and I walk a lot so my calves do take a bashing each day.

I've just read all of the Sept thread and I never realised I was supposed to have a rest day. I've got to L1D8 now with no gaps and I was really pleased with myself for not missing a day. Not sure whether to plan in a rest day or just keep the momentum going now that it feels like a habit. At the moment I'm just desperate to get L1 finished because I'm bored of it so maybe I'll wait for a day or so into L2 if it's as bad as the previous thread suggests!!

Wow - you're doing incredibly well Pigeonpost - I couldn't keep going without rest days. I always have Saturday as a rest day, and sometimes another one during the week (depends on how tired I am). I also struggle with my calves aching on level 1 of 30DS. In fact I cheat - I do jumping jacks and butt kicks in circuit 2, and jump rope and shadow boxing in circuit 2.

I did 30DS L3D2 and 6W6P L2D7 this morning. I quite enjoy level 3 except for rock stars - the middle circuit seems strangely easy.

Yes I hear you on the calf aching, I'm glad it's not just me! Have started stretching my calves beforehand which seems to help. I took a rest day yesterday in the end as was feeling squiffy (period arrived today, what a surprise) but back on it tonight!

30DS L3D3 & 6W6P L2D8. Quite enjoying level 3 of 30DS - wish I could say the same of level 2 of 6W6P! I think next time I attempt this particular DVD I'll alternate between L1 & L2 to break it up a bit.

I had a rest day yesterday, which definitely made today more bearable Smile

I've just done 30DS L3D4 & 6W6P L2D9 interspersed with cooking dinner and assisting with homework

I think I'm finally getting into the swing of this level of 6W6P - I felt less like I was going to die today Grin

30DS L3D5 & 6W6P L2D10. I'm actually starting to notice that I have abs. Which is pleasing.

After more rest days than intended I did the last day of L1 30DS today, all ready to start L2 tomorrow, I'm actually a bit nervous! Plus I am driving halfway across the country tomorrow evening to visit my sister's new baby so am going to have to get my act together and Shred over lunchtime whilst DS3 is hopefully napping. Must. Get. Organised. Will then have a rest day on Sat and hopefully be back home in time to do it on Sun.

I have both 30 day shred and Ripped in 30. Haven't dared to try them yet but which is better? I'm 4+ stone overweight and quite old Smile

Hi Arkengarthdale - I'd start with 30 Day Shred (doing the beginner moves).

I've tried Ripped in 30 too, but I think it is harder. I've made it all the way through 30DS several times, but I've never made it beyond level 2 of Ri30.

Good luck! (Everyone struggles for the first few days - it suddenly gets better around day 4-5).

Hello All, I'm back after dropping off these threads in August and September Blush.
Motivation has returned now though and did BFBM today Smile.
Arken Agree with Oubliette re starting with 30 DS. The last time I did it I was quite gentle with myself - only shredding 3-4 days a week so it took me about two months to get through it all! I was doing long walks on some days in between though. Just go at whatever pace suits you!
My favourite JM workouts are Boost Fat Boost Metabolism (BFBM) and No More Trouble Zones (NMTZ). These are longer workouts than 30DS and I try to do them 3/4 times a week.

Cor, 30DS L2 started today. Lots of planking!! I don't like planking at home as I'm never sure my position is right. And I simply could not do that abs thing where you lift both straight legs off the ground. Impossible. Might have to adapt with one leg at a time.

I decided sleep was more important than exercise this morning, so I've only just persuaded myself to do today's circuits: 30DS L3D7 & 6W6P L2D12.

I'm definitely going to give BFBM & NMTZ a go after my holiday. I think I'm getting a bit bored of 30DS. I'll probably keep going with 6W6P though even though I'm never going to love level 2. I might throw in some Ri30 for a bit of variety - maybe even KB&T...

I'm in complete and utter awe that you do another workout on the same day as lv2 of 6w6p - I actually want to cry every time I finish it, with sheer relief that it's over! I've missed a few days now cos I've got a rotten cold. Due to finish it on Wednesday, then move to 30ds. I've been eating loads of junk but 6w6p has changed my shape anyway, lost 2 inches from waist and hips in 3 weeks - so the pain is worth it at least! Am hoping I'm feeling well enough to get back to it tomorrow.

I always make sure I do the other workout before 6W6P L2. I tried it the other way around once - never again!

Today I was feeling particularly sadistic motivated, so I did:
30DS L3D8
6W6P L2D13
6W6P L1D16

I'm now feeling rather tired. I'll be having a rest day tomorrow as I'm going out Smile

Well done Oubliette! Not surprised you're tired!
Well done on the shape change Stitch. If I'm regularly JMing I usually drop a dress size without dieting. I can feel the difference Blush with my trousers and jeans etc when I have had a month off as per recently!
I don't work out on Mondays due to early work start but will be BFBM-ing tomorrow.

Bloody hell Oubliette!! I'm on D3L2 of 30DS and I think it feels a tiny bit easier but possibly because I'm not doing the full plank jacks or plank thrusts. Waaaaaay too much planking for my liking there!!

It has taken me a little over 4 months of regular Jillian DVDs to get to this point. Funnily enough I felt a bit sore yesterday morning.

I also thought I might be coming down with the horrible cold the DC have had - my head was feeling very woolly last night. Fortunately, it appears that I haven't got it yet

I've just done 30DS L3D9 and 6W6P L2D14. Almost time to take some 'after' pictures...

I finished 30DS today (L3D10), and I'm pretty much there with 6W6P too (L2D15). I'll probably do another session of 6W6P tomorrow, and then I'm on holiday for a week Grin

Kickbox fast fix today (1 x20min).
Getting back into the Jillian groove this week as have BFBMd a few times this week too.
Well done Oubliette - you more than deserve a week off!!
Agree Pigeon that planks are the worst aspect of 30DS L2!
