I could just write my camping wishlist down on a bit of paper for my eyes only, but where's the fun in that? My list is really very long - it's only my second year camping and there is a lot of Learning From Last Year's Mistakes.

** Cooking and eating set up. Last year we made do with a single burner and one of those rubbish table with chairs attached. and that was it! so i am looking to go wild with a <wait for it...> DOUBLE burner. and a kitchen stand type thing. And a table to eat around. MIL has dug out a cooker, stand and table from her garage so maybe won't have to shell out on them.

** A double aerobed. DH and I have a single each to make a lovely kingsized when pushed together. Bought the kids a rubbish kids one each - a kampa thing? Thought sod it just buy a big aerobed and we can all chop and change as is the way with a 2 and 3 year old.

** Pie Iron. Double square (ta Blu)

** <Bit Dull> DD needs a sleeping bag, and a lantern.

** Some hanging storage - for my new old frame tent. And some hanging storage for back of (unconverted just a bogstandard old MPV) Bongo.

Come list with me!

i thought my list felt too short, just remembered loads more. Bear with me campers.

** a tarp. as a groundsheet for our groundsheetless tent.

** a bbq. maybe the notebook one.

** some new pegs. going to wellington country park and they recommend rock pegs. know slubber is a big fan of the deltas, but i have looked those up online and they make absolutely no sense to me. my BIL had some flash looking pyramid pegs that seemed okay.

that's it.

really.

Marking place off to bed, will post tomorrow.

Must get: Ambient tent lighting, for evening card playing!

Fantasy list- camping wardrobe, kitchen shelvely things, table, chairs

Reality: Some kind of minescule floor covering thing for comfort...

VivaLeBeaver Sun 29-Jan-12 09:00:55

Malu tarp thingy
Nice lamp/lighting
Inner for bell tent
thinking of getting an electric double burner for when we have ehu so I don't have to take gas burner and gas.

cheerup Sun 29-Jan-12 09:46:06

Lighting - our little LED £2.50 jobs don't really cut the mustard in the living area after dark.
Quechua tarp
Pond liner to cut to size, add eyelets to and use as a groundsheet for our Cabanon Estoril without SIG/ZIG
Breathable groundsheet for underneath front awning
Extra poles so that side door can be an additional awning
Moon chairs

And, if funds allow, a better bike rack.

VivaLeBeaver Sun 29-Jan-12 09:58:02

Oooh yes;

bike rack here as well
And two wind breaks

Footprint groundsheet and rock pegs (also for Wellington Country Park)
Bigger table
Nicer lighting
One of those zappy sparky things for lighting the cooker - you see I know all the lingo wink
One of those tail-crate trailer things so I can fit everything in.

Lovely thread smile

I thought I needed:

Decent lantern/lighting for in the tent
Table we can play cards on
Double air bed

But after reading this thread have decided I also need:

Sparky stove lighting thingy
Stove with a double burner

In my dreams I would have an icey tek cool box and a couple of fat airic's too.

I'm a bit stuck, given that after last summer's very short trip, I know I can't fit anything more in the car. hmm and I'm not leaving anything out, even the bunting BUT if we ahem getaroofbox, then:

-Would like a tent carpet of some description.
-A kitcheny set-up.
-An inner for the bell tent.

Oh, and a replacement SIM for the Aldi one that punctured.

Attheendoftheday, in my dreams, I too would like an IceyTek, but also a massive people carrier to put one in.

Blu Sun 29-Jan-12 18:14:56

Oooh, yes, my list is:

-Icey Tek (can't really justify the cost, but I have been hankering for so long I might just go for it. The truth is it's the look of them I like!)
-a Pie Iron
- A tripod to cook over a fire. Again, not really necessary especially as I have a small Campfire Grill, but I am obsessed by all kinds of campfire cooking paraphanalia - hence pie iron!
- possibly a new mini tent for DS. He likes to sleep in his own tent with his friend, and has a festival tent which runs with condensation inside. Hopeless.

I was tempted by solar powered fairy lights, but have gone off them as a Step Too Far (already have bunting)

My Best Buy of last year, apart form the Campfire Grill, was Tiny Lights. The teeny reading lights - much better for reading in the tent than a big power hungry lantern, and the batteries lasted a good while, and are cheap. order batteries at the same tme. I used mine as a general torch, too!

VivaLeBeaver Sun 29-Jan-12 19:07:14

I'd really love a stove for my bell tent. But the tents new so I need to do a trip with everything and see how much space is left in the car. Pie iron looks fab, I've never heard of them before.

I got an Iceytek just before Xmas and am excited about trying it out. Got the small one and its much bigger than I thought it would be.

Blu Sun 29-Jan-12 19:27:24

The 25l Icey tek?

I have been looking at the 23l Yeti box as I think the handle would be an advantage. But 2 l less space...hmmm.

GlitterKitty Sun 29-Jan-12 20:36:30

<strokes icey tek>

pic on profile...mmmmm

VivaLeBeaver Sun 29-Jan-12 20:42:39

Got the 25l iceytek. I must admit I wish it had a handle as I think it might be an arse to pick up when full. Tough I suppose you only pick it up once and put it in the tent and leave it there. There is a lip that you can get your fingers under. It's only for me and dd and will be more than big enough.

lemonbonbons Sun 29-Jan-12 20:56:32

A Iceytek (thanks to mumsnet)

A belltent (thanks to mumsnet)

A posh camping bed (thanks to mumsnet)

Solar light s on strings (thanks to mumsnet)

A trailer that fits on your car , that stores all your camping gear (thanks to mumsnet)

Id also like some Pedlars crockery, bunting, and some vodka and handmade burgers (stored in my iceytek)

Blu Mon 30-Jan-12 09:51:03

The Icey Tek is HUGE!
GlitterKitty, could you post a pic with the Icey tek against an adult, please? If you have one? Or model it for us?The Camping Kit Catwalk? grin

mogs0 Mon 30-Jan-12 17:32:03

* a new pan set - my friend has a lovely set that all fits inside each other and looks very neat!

* a 25l icey tek - I really want one and currently only have a couple of really cheap coolbags.

* some poles or decent instructions on how to put up the awning on the front of my mini-belltent.

* windbreaks - I have bought some material to make my own but I just know it's going to look shit and be much cheaper to just buy the things ready made!! I have a vision of having a windbreak either side of the door with the awning over the top.

* a roof box, rack and bars - I'm too tight to pay for a new, full price one and my car is so small that I'm not sure whether I can even get one suitable.

Unfortunately, funds won't stretch to all of it unless I eBay the entire contents of my house.

GlitterKitty Mon 30-Jan-12 19:25:20

Icey tek is in the basement, perhaps homing a wee mice family for the winter. I will get a pic with an adult next time I'm down there though.

Blu- its worth it. Really. Stays cold for ages like proper fridge- even in red hot tent you just need new bag of cubes every couple days.

mogs0 Mon 30-Jan-12 19:32:09

Glitterkitty - what size is your icey tek? It looks rather large!

GlitterKitty Mon 30-Jan-12 19:46:07

The smallest one!

mogs0 Mon 30-Jan-12 20:26:49

Oh my goodness, just had another look and it really does look big! Not sure if I'd fit it in my car with all the other stuff. I might have to reconsider...at least I'll save myself £100!

I've just reserved a cheap windbreak in Argos and am going to attempt to use the poles with the fabric I've already got <really must learn to use the sewing machine>

attheendoftheday Mon 30-Jan-12 22:30:11

I hadn't even considered how to fit my fantasy IceyTek into the car amid kids and dogs. Trust you lot to ruin a perfectly good camping equipment fantasy! What will I drool over online now?

VivaLeBeaver Mon 30-Jan-12 22:38:41

Just make one of the kids travel with it on their knee - sorted.

mogs0 Mon 30-Jan-12 22:40:29

Sorry blush!

Although, I suppose, as it can be used a seat, you could leave one chair out of the packing? <hopeful?>

attheendoftheday Tue 31-Jan-12 00:27:58

I shall simply amend my fantasy to having a giant people carrier to travel in. While I'm at it, I may as well have my own bell tent (complete with bunting) erected for me by my unicorn-servants on a fire permitting site where no one has loud sex <sigh>.
