It is our first camping trip of the year this weekend, as soon as the school closes at 1.30 we are off to Beddgelert.

I have pulled everything out of the shed and garage and checked it, but am sure that I have forgotten something!

Here is my list:

Tent
Airbeds
Sleeping Bags
Pillows
Lanterns
Chairs
Picnic Rug
Stove + gas
Saucepans, kettle, toaster.
BBQ
Plates, bowls, cups, mugs
Cutlery + utensils
Water bottles
Cool box
Washing up bowl
Clothes ranging from shorts and t-shirts to Fleeces and waterproofs
PJs
Wellies
Toiletries
Meds + first aid kit
Books + mp3 player
Bikes, balls, games etc

We will buy food on the way up, so don't need to pack that.

What have I forgotten?

Thanks.

Have amended list (I did actually have pegs/poles/mallet/peg hooky thing/washing up liquid and towels I just forgot to write them down!)

I've just been reading reviews of the site and a lot of people recommend rock pegs... what are they and where can I find them? I have looked on the Millets and Charlie's websites (the only shops near to me) and I can't see them. Do they go by another name?

They are these things. Very useful if ground is very hard. If you want some I would just ring whatever shops are within reach and ask, they are always known as 'Rock Pegs' afaik.

I have a set but have yet to crack them open in the last three years.

Thanks.

Thinking about it there must be a Gelert shop in Beddgelert, which will surely stock them if we find we need them.

I'm starting to wish I hadn't read some of the reviews, they are always so doom laden! However some of the complaints are a bit iffy... several people complined about the number of trees on the site, which seems hardly suprising when it is a Forest Holidays site!

foam ear plugs incase of snorers in nearby tents?!

Report
domesticsluttery · 13/07/2010 13:00

I'm sure the sound of DH and DS1's snoring will drown them out!

WTWTW - I need to ask: what car do you have? and do you have a roof rack or top box?

We were camping last weekend in the New Forest and here's what we forgot:

bowls

cardigans/fleeces/any warm clothes at all - I think I took the severe heatwave warnings rather too literally

the kettle (blame dh)

the wine (blame dh)

Luckily we were with a group of friends so we could share stuff. But, dh, what a numpty. He asked for a job, I said "pack the cool box" he packed just about everything from our fridge apart from the wine. Grrrrr.

lol I was wondering the same thing about your car WTWTW, If I packed all of that into our Picasso I would have to leave the DC behind!

Do you really think it is alot? I know it looks alot but I thought it was just because I have a list of everything as I hate forgetting stuff, so the list is just saved on the computer and it get updated as necessary every year.

The last two years we have taken washable nappies as well, they are quite bulky, thankfully dd is trained this year so we don't need them, actually we took the highchair last year too...

For those of you who need to know, we have a very carefully packed Golf Estate with a roof box.

We also take clothes and rather a lot of food and two dc's.

I admit it will be a challenge next year when we will have a dog......

I think you might just squeeze the toaster in, as long as it is folded flat...

Ah I do not pack, I assemble, then dp packs, god alone knows how he does it, there is often huffing.

To be fair though, I pitch single handedly when we arrive whilst he takes the kids off somewhere, he gets to come back once the kettle is boiling and it's time for tea.

Am so impressed with WTWTW's list. those pegs we use all the time for our awning. they are fab. we had ds2's buggy and booster seat which took up alot of room.
