Gosh. I'm sure you'll find a name you both like equally. Have you been trawling the baby books?
Of the ones you both like
Carla - very nice have you considered Cara as well
Julia - very sweet
Layla - not sure I too think it's a bit chavvy, makes me think of Lolita for some reason.
The girls of friends who have been born within the last two years are called Harriet, Matilda, Sadie, Sophie, Caitlyn, Imogen, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Jemima, Agnes, Emily
Will think some more and get back to you.

Rosa is lovely and Rosa and Ruben are fine together.
Thanks for the votes of confidence in Ruben and Rosa sounding okay together. MAybe I've been over analysing!
Also love Anna, but it's my Mum's name, hence a big NO for DH!
Cara just doesn't seem as finished as Carla, considered Clara but it makes me think of a little girl who could be a bit precocious(Sp?!).

Darn, I thought Anna was just what you needed!
I wouldn't have a problem with matching initials.
Eleanor
Helena
I think Clara is lovely. My super-lovely osteopath has daughter's called Clara and Tilda - lovely simple names.
Not sure about Layla - makes me think of that Eric Clapton song.
I actually really like Hebe but DH says the child would be nicknamed Heebie Jeebies. He has a point.
Julia is strong - Claudia is also very pretty.
Good luck - we have twins on the way so have to think of many name combos - nightmare!
How about Juliet or Phoebe? or Sadie?

Hebe is fantastic.
I would have had it but for a surname that starts with "H"
Think Rosa would be fine with Ruben.
Does anyone say Heebie Jeebies anymore?
Maybe you could have it as a middle name?
I like Cara, Clara, Carla.

Have to confess I hate carla - but I hate any boys names with a's (edwina, nigella, paula etc.) But it is also my MIL's name... so perhaps have unreasonable bias
.
I really like Ruben. For girls names, I prefer a simple Rose to Rosa. Hebe is like phoebe without the ph, and does reminde me of heebie jeebies.
Since you both like the ones ending with 'a' what about ...
Mia
Lara (prefer that to Layla)
And somehow I'm going blank on any others!!

Roas is lovely and great with Reuben. I've always liked Carla and it's quite underused (Carla Rose perhaps?) Julia really classy name. Maybe you'll just know when you see her!
Can Reuben help decide may be?!

If you like Stella, what about Estelle or Esther?
Of your three that you both like I think Julia is the nicest.
Carla makes me think of the gobby woman in cheers and Layla is one of those popular names which obviously is fine...
Margaret- then you can call her Meg for short. Rosa is ok. What's wrong with having another Bella?
Your dh probably has the right idea about Stella-if you call your child that people will think it's after the lager
Try not to fixate on it too much now, when you see her you may know which is right.
Good luck

Rosa - lovely, goes well with Ruben
Stella - Estelle, Seren, Reailtin all mean the same thing, maybe your DH would like one of them?
Meg - dislike this name
Bay - no
Hebe - lovely but everyone would get tired of heebie-jeebie very fast, and it would just keep on going and going and going...
Eva - lovely, maybe a bit popular, but you could resist the Evie tide with Eva, which has a different E sound; Eve is another option
Nadia - don't like, prefer Natasha or Natalia
Bella - don't like
Carla -- this reminds me of Cheers too, much prefer Charlotte
Julia -- lovely, also Julianna, Juliet
Layla -- like, also like Lila, and love Lara

Do you need to have a name picked out before she is born?
I think when you both see her it will be much easier to agree and give her a name that suits her.
Right now I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I can only feel my baby... that's why I chose the name Bloopy (so far ;))... and once we see Bloopy I'm sure that name will change
I just know you'll come up with a perfect name for her.
Julia is fine, and if you both like it...

If we all waited until our babies were born before we picked a name out, we'd all gaze lovingly into their little faces and proudly announce "welcome to the world Phil Mitchell"
call her Alice
If you aren't sure about Hebe, what about Thebe instead?
Thanks all for your feedback. I'm still LOL as I type about the Phil Mitchell comment
We have been around in circles so many times I just KNOW we have to agree before she's born because otherwise the name I will feel is perfect when I gaze at her DH will disagree with and so the child will either be unamed for first few days which I really don't want, or I'll use my hormonal state to get what I want and secretly feel bad that DH doesn't love the name.
Am liking Lara, but I do think - Croft...
And there's a shoe shop called Cara in my home town, so that's out.
Thebe, is good but I think it's almost so close to Phoebe people might mishear it as Phoebe, which I'm just not keen on, too soft for me.
Glad you all seem to think Ruben and Rosa is a goer. Maybe it'll be between Rosa and Julia. I can settle for a shortlist of two. That feels like progress!
Thanks again Mners. You're helping me sift the wheat from the chaff!

Rosa or Julia. Julia is so gorgeous I almost wish I could have another daughter.
I think Rosa is really pretty; I've got Rosamund on my short list for next time!
Julia is very nice, and I love Meg as that's my name and I'm great.
Carla and Layla are chavvy to me but Clara and Lara or Lauren are nice. Not sure why the placement of the "l" in Clara/Carla makes such a difference, but it does!
