FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick Sun 10-Mar-13 16:45:53

I've discounted Artie as I think it's a bit too similar to Arlo...though i love it.
I've axed my list quite considerably after realising a lot of my favourite names are way to close the my other DC names sad

Barnaby Nicholas Regi sir-name (with teddy as a nn perhaps) works well I think?
I can't seem to get any of the family names to 'sit' right with Merewen though...

MissMummy1 Sat 09-Mar-13 22:19:29

We are SO similar! DD is a Matilda. Arlo was top of our boy's name list grin .

I love love LOVE Luna. DP said no but it's Matilda's MN. Latin for moon - we are both sailors smile .

I like Artie as a nn for Artimus. Aulay (ulster scot's version of Ollie) was our other boy's name.

bouncysmiley Sat 09-Mar-13 22:11:21

Bonnie/ Idris

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick Sat 09-Mar-13 21:56:51

I really like Merewen for a girl,I like the nn possiblitys of Winnie or merry.

Mudwiggle Sat 09-Mar-13 14:41:55

If you are not even going to put Scout in bold after two recommendations from this thread, then I'm off! [Flounces away dramatically] grin

(I like Jude for a boy too).

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick Mon 04-Mar-13 20:40:10

<snort>

Men,eh! grin

Artichook Mon 04-Mar-13 20:31:34

I've been liking Esau all day so just mentioned it to DH (we are searching for a name for a boy due in 10 weeks). He immediatly killed my love by saying it means "exceptionally hairy" and sounds like "eye sore". Oh well, back to the drawing board.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick Mon 04-Mar-13 20:22:07

Thanks mayanna

And yes, ILike this is for real ...

mayanna123 Mon 04-Mar-13 12:15:20

My favourites on your list are

Ariella, Vita, Coralie, Hera and Eliza - beautiful, feminine and underused!

Alden, Quentin, Ivo, Soren (one o) and Artan - strong, classic and underused!

I really dislike Rudi/Rudolpf due to the rude sound. Florian is very popular in Germany btw.

ILikeRed Mon 04-Mar-13 10:39:16

LOL at Cookielove!
Is this for real?

Ezra isnt in my top ten anyhow...

Yula and Affery are real names, they all are.

Florian,Beauregard and Rudi however are quite near the top of the pile...I like them.

And I love Myrtle.

BonnieWeeJeannieMcCall Mon 04-Mar-13 00:09:24

Luna and Myrtle are both Harry Potter characters with unfortunate nicknames "Looney" and "Moaning Myrtle" So I'd avoid those. And "Yula" and "Affery" don't sound like real names.
My favourites are Blythe and Clara.

Please don't call a boy Florian, Yule or Beauregard. And Rudi is too close to Rude.
Bertie, Jude and Rufus are fine.

Lovecat Sun 03-Mar-13 23:48:48

You don't have the Disney Channel then, Frigg? Yzma is a major character in the film The Emperor's New Groove (and the spin-off daily series Emperor's New School). That was a flattering picture of her.

Seriously. Don't call your child Ezma. smile

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick Sun 03-Mar-13 22:34:26

Artichook
I like your reasoning...

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick Sun 03-Mar-13 22:28:26

Ur...that's a pretty horrid picture of what I assume is a cartoon character with a similar name...

It certainly not the only connotation though, and if I have no idea who it is,nor will a lot of people...

Lovecat Sun 03-Mar-13 21:56:42

Ezma? EZMA??

You do realise that this is Ezma, don't you?

(OK, it's spelled slightly differently but it's pronounced the same!)

Sorry, I got no further than that...

shoobidoo Sun 03-Mar-13 21:56:37

Elsie, Clara, Quentin and Jude are my favourites.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick Sun 03-Mar-13 21:35:50

Well then birdie I look forward to the birth announcement grin
