I like it.....
I love the name.
Not sure about Rex Rayne Wood- even Holly found it a mouthful when she just announced it on This Morning! But Rex is cool and very them.
Cute name!
I think Rex will start appearing all over the place now and become very popular.
Congratulations to her.
I love the name Rex but am perturbed that I have the same taste as Fearne Cotton.
Squoosh...same here
Okay i'm going to spoil the cart! i like Fearne cotton and very pleased she's had a lovely baby boy, but "REX"just sounds like a dog's name.
Lovely. Let's hope that she takes to motherhood really well......so well that she retires from TV/radio in fact!
Love it. You are right though. It's already getting popular. Reminds me of Bri's husband on Desparate Housewives.
I like it.
It could of been something much worse.
As for it being a so called dogs name whatever that means...my dad's dogs are Milly and Molly. Plenty of girls running about with those names.
We haven't met another one yet, our ds is 21 months! but reckon we will do within next few years.
Farmersdaughter - but unlike Milly and Molly, the name 'REX' has very strong connections to dog's, its a popular dog's name. It's a nice name in itself but its been used in so many fictional stories (and i've met 3 Rex's all dogs)that its spoilt it a bit.
I am a Lucy, met loads of dogs that share my name. Never ever met a dog who shares ds's name yet though.
Gunz {sticks tongue out and blows a raspberry in general direction}
I think it's fabulous.
Lockets - i suppose the difference with that though is most of us have met a person called 'Lucy' infact loads, so it counterbalances the dog effect iyswim, probably more people called Lucy than dogs. I wonder how many people we all know called 'Rex' for me i haven't met any at all, you also mentioned you hadn't met any except ds , infact i know people who have steered away from that name simply because of its overuse for dog's.
Try googling it and see what you come up with!
It's not my cup of tea but I have heard worse.
It definitely has strong dog connotations for lots of people, however this wouldn't bother me a jot. It makes me think of a brooding, tousel haired, chisel jawed, Edwardian hero who struts around being a bit caddish to women. <fans self>
With all due respect Gunznroses I don't really need to google my own son's name
we have kind of been through that stage. Like I said, I have never actually met a dog called Rex yet, guess that is because so many dog owners have more imagination than that. So far we have had a few people say Rex is a dog's name but to be fair they are people we aren't especially bothered about having an opinion from. Teenage boys are always in awe of the name and almost always say "That is such a cool name" I quite like that. The dinosaur link is more often spotted and again, nothing wrong with that.
Lockets - I asked you to google it because you seemed surprised when i posted that i associate it with a dog's name. if you had just said you've known that all along but didn't care anyway
, then i would just have accepted that, but you were making it out to seem as if i was making the whole dog association all up.
Whoever uses the name Rex that's up to them, but the thread was asking people's opinion of the name.
No, I didn't make that out at all. I just said I hadn't met a dog named Rex yet. Think you might have imagined the rest
I don't like the 'Rayne' bit much.
Congratulations Fearne !
Bet you'll be having a peek on here at some point.
Yes you did. By you saying you had never met a dog called Rex you were indirectly insinuating that you've never heard of any such association, if you weren't you could have just said "Yes i know, but we like it".
I think you are smarting a bit from somebody daring to say they had never met a dog called Rex. I haven't, never ever. There, I said it again
