Btw have a very normal boring surname if that makes a difference

drjohnsonscat Thu 10-Jan-13 12:26:51

Like it smile

MulledWineAndScully Thu 10-Jan-13 12:27:07

I don't have feelings about it either way, so that's probably a tick in the box for you!

I only think of "Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion" when I hear it.

DitzyDonkeySillyMonkey Thu 10-Jan-13 12:27:54

I would prefer Romilly!

Wishfulmakeupping Thu 10-Jan-13 12:28:01

Sorry cant give you a negative reaction I likes it too much smile
We're you inspired by the film? It's so funny

Pasiphae Thu 10-Jan-13 12:28:14

I like Romy.
As a child (in France) I used to love an actress called Romy Schneider, she was fascinating.

That name still means beauty and grace to me, thanks to her!

SuperSesame Thu 10-Jan-13 12:28:17

Romy lovely, is it for a girl? And is it short for something?

MummyCoolski Thu 10-Jan-13 12:29:02

I like it! Romily was on my list but vetoed by my dh (and then we had a boy!).

Bluemonkeyspots Thu 10-Jan-13 12:29:43

Aww no never thought of the film [glares at mulled] angry

Is that a bad connection?

AnAirOfHope Thu 10-Jan-13 12:29:53

You will get people calling her Ro?

Bluemonkeyspots Thu 10-Jan-13 12:31:04

I really don't like romilly and definitely don't like rosemary so it would not be short for anything, just Romy.

LaCiccolina Thu 10-Jan-13 12:32:33

Like it

MulledWineAndScully Thu 10-Jan-13 12:50:53

"is that a bad connection?"

I don't think so, but I barely remember the film - only the title! Sorry btw.

PoppadomPreach Thu 10-Jan-13 12:52:52

Really like it - friend name her baby Romy last year and I commented how much I liked it!

Merrylegs Thu 10-Jan-13 12:55:20

It' a pretty name but whenever I hear it I do think of Romy Schneider. She was v beautiful but had a v tragic life - if that kind of stuff bothers you.

QOD Thu 10-Jan-13 13:00:01

Like it!!

Pronounced row me? Lovely

CambridgeBlue Thu 10-Jan-13 13:00:12

I like it but would be unsure how to pronounce <clueless>. Is it Ro (rhymes with 'low') -my or Ro (like the start of 'olive') -my? And is the -my bit pronounced as 'my' or 'me'?

CambridgeBlue Thu 10-Jan-13 13:00:45

And I see that QOD has answered my question!

Thumbwitch Thu 10-Jan-13 13:02:54

Romy and Michelle's High School reunion - get it out on DVD and watch it to know whether or not you think it's a good or bad connection! (2 blonde girls who definitely came under the "different and a bit dim" umbrella but ultimately were the "nice girls who did good". I like that film)

Row-me is the pronunciation I'm familiar with.
I have a friend whose cousin is called Roma, that's nice too.

squoosh Thu 10-Jan-13 13:03:42

Romy is just lovely!

Yes, I would only connect it with Romy Schneider. It's not a name that would spring to mind as a choice but I don't hate it thought you were going to say a surname. Go for it!

seeker Thu 10-Jan-13 13:04:56

Trouble is, I don't think it's particularly unusual. I know 4!

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick Thu 10-Jan-13 13:05:01

Romy is luffly grin

EbbNFlow Thu 10-Jan-13 13:07:23

I like it a lot.
