What is wrong with Jessica?

Everyone we have told we are thinking of naming our child Jessica has responded with 'oh'. Nobody seems to like it except us!

Love it

I really like it. My niece is Jessica. Known as Jess or Jessie or Jessibel to those of us who love her. So be prepared.

Also - advice - don't tell anyone the name before baby arrives. You are less likely to get those responses that way!

I quite like it and know some very nice Jessicas but the "sic" sound puts me off the name a bit. It's very popular but that's because many people like it, so I'm not sure why it's getting a lukewarm reception.

It's a lovely name. My doll as a chid was called Jessica after the baby in some mothers do 'ave em!
Just don't tell anyone your chosen name as people love to have an opinion/cats bum face.

I find it a nice name - for a small girl. For some reason it doesnt sound very adult to me. Bit like the Maisy thread.

Think its because it's been overused in recent times but not such in the last couple of years (or not around my way)

IMO -abbreviations to Jessie or Jess are better and more adult.

BUT who caare what other people think though? and I agree with whoever said dont tell anyone til she is born-

Good luck!

Nothing's wrong with it. People in general must like it, because it's been a very popular name for quite a while now, it's a modern classic. Maybe that's just it, actually, there's just not too much you can say about it. Which is no bad thing, really!

It's never a good idea to tell people your choice before the event because then you have to deal with their reactions

I love it. I know my friend doesn't as we were discussing it the other day.

Who cares what others think, if you like it, go for it.

It's fine. It's like abigail. Never really goes away, but it's a good choice even if it's not to everybody's taste. What is??

I love it, have done since i was a kid. All my dolls were called Jessica and i always said if i had a daughter she would be a Jessica. DD1 is now 19 and I still love it.

That's my name. I think it's nice on certain people, just not me.

Personally I'm not keen on Jessica. If, however, I was introduced to a baby called Jessica, I'd be courteous enough to say something nice.

(If, however, a friend asked me for my honest opinion, I'd give that too)

Lovley name - you stick with it. It's for that reason we didn't tell anyone our childs name until after she was born. Don't listen to other people it's nothing to do with them.

I like Jessica a lot! It's one of my best friend's names, and she's lovely. I think the full name is prettiest; don't like Jess or Jessie as much.

it's boring and very overused at the moment imo. i don't think it's nice to have a name that is the same as 3 other kids in your class, you know?

I'm not mad on it although DH really likes it. I find it a bland and was over popular 110 years ago.
