Jo Cox.

I can't get over the fact that her children are having to be told that their mum isn't coming home.

It's just made me feel rotten.

I think of people feel the same. my Facebook feed suggests that I wasn't the only one to have started crying when I tucked my children up in bed tonight and thought of her family.

She was the same age as me, and the sort of woman who I really admire.

DollyBarton Thu 16-Jun-16 22:29:23

I just googled. Horrific. Why do people do these things. Do they have no sense of how precious life is.

IrenetheQuaint Thu 16-Jun-16 22:30:21

It's so grim, she's exactly the sort of person we need as an MP.

Jasperkiss5 Thu 16-Jun-16 22:32:27

It's awful. She probably kissed or hugged her children goodbye this morning and set off to work. She had no idea she would be brutally murdered and end up in a morgue at the end of the day. It makes me shiver, poor woman and her poor family.

readytorage Thu 16-Jun-16 22:32:32

She seemed like she had such strong values and good morals.

Those poor babies won't even remember much about their mum as they grow up as they're only 3 and 5.

I feel so angry that someone should strip those children of their right to a mother

ghostyslovesheep Thu 16-Jun-16 22:34:25

YANBU OP I've been in tears over it - and I really don't do that over the deaths of people I don;t know

It's just awful - a sad and senseless loss sad

FellOutOfBed2wice Thu 16-Jun-16 22:35:23

I can't stop thinking about it either. Terrible.

weeonion Thu 16-Jun-16 22:39:30

Yep OP. I get it. Those poor kids, her family and friends....

This has been a truly awful week with terrible acts. I cried reading the account of the texts between a son and his mum during the Orlando club massacre. I also cried earlier today reading about the mum who stood in from of her son that night and was murdered.

The whole doesn't seem a very happy safe place to me right now....

Pettywoman Thu 16-Jun-16 22:39:30

I feel a sense of profound sadness even though I didn't even know who she was until today. I'm sure her legacy will live on. People like her with such spirit and energy have such an influence on people.

My heart breaks for her family.

Birdsgottafly Thu 16-Jun-16 22:40:13

There's going to be a two minutes silence for her at 11pm, held during the Wandworth by-election.

The person they have arrested has a history of severe MH issues.

It's shocking. Only two days ago a former neighbour of mine and her DD was murdered by the DDs ex partner.

It's quite sobering to think that life could be over, as quick and unexpected as that.

Roonerspism Thu 16-Jun-16 22:41:28

I hear you OP

Just desperate. The waste.

Why are lunatics able to keep guns?

DollyBarton Thu 16-Jun-16 22:43:09

3 and 5. Oh god, the horror of them asking where mummy is.

Inarightpickleandchutney Thu 16-Jun-16 22:46:20

I sobbed after I did stories and tucking in. I just can't grasp the enormity of what one person saw fit to do to another. I know it happens round the world every day, however this has really got me.
Those two little girls, not long past being babies, and the horror Mrs Cox saw in her last breaths.
She is my age, with daughters, a job, I noticed in one of the photos I have the same dress, she may have been an MP but she was just a normal woman, mother, wife, family member.
So sad.

ColdTeaAgain Thu 16-Jun-16 22:46:46

Exactly what I've been thinking Dolly
Her poor husband having tell them of their new reality sad

Paniniswapx3 Thu 16-Jun-16 22:49:23

I hadn't heard of her before today either but feel profoundly sad about it too. Her poor husband & DC. Truly tragic & from all accounts, she seemed like a thoroughly decent MP. RIP.

dublingirl48653 Thu 16-Jun-16 22:51:41

beyond belief

what a wonderful person
praying for her husband and innocent kids

Maki79 Thu 16-Jun-16 22:51:58

It's absolutely shocking. She seemed to have really touched people she worked with and her constituents. A passionate, hard working young mother with so much to give. Her photo's look so bubbly and joyful! Just awful.

I have decided to leave facebook for a while as my feed is full of campainers using her death to campaign further, and I got a mail from Avaaz saying to honor her death we could vote remain. Just disgraceful. She only died a few hours ago.

Birdsgottafly - that's dreadful!! You must be so shaken sad I once had a my next door neighbour stab her partner outside my front door, but he was OK. I moved out for a while as I felt so vunerable.

Peace and love everybody, this world is not bad but it has a profound sadness about it this week...sad

fassbendersmistress Thu 16-Jun-16 22:55:13

It's distressing enough knowing that a family have lost their mum, wife, daughter, friend in such a violent manner...but she was such a great contributor to society too. Utterly heartbreaking.

Cagliostro Thu 16-Jun-16 22:55:54

Just horrific.

I keep looking at her pictures as they come up on my newsfeed.

She has such a beautiful, joyful smile sad

StickTheDMWhereTheSunDontShine Thu 16-Jun-16 22:57:54

YANBU.

How on Earth do you explain that to your kids?

And, give it a few years, and they'll find the godawful details of how their mother was killed plastered all over the Internet sad

Brokenbiscuit Thu 16-Jun-16 23:00:10

I met her a few times when I was at university - she used to share a house with a friend of mine. Didn't realise it was her until I saw the pictures and then made the connection. Utter disbelief.

Those poor, poor little girls. What a tragic waste.

Hastalapasta Thu 16-Jun-16 23:03:30

Me too, awful news. Poor family. Don't think that I was the only one giving extra cuddles at bedtime tonight.

Armi Thu 16-Jun-16 23:04:17

I'm struggling with this too. Am overwhelmed with sadness thinking of her children.
