I am 23..

I am twenty fucking three.

I AM TWENTY-FUCKING-THREE AND BEING EYE-ROLLED BY MY TWENTY-YEAR-OLD SISTER-IN-LAW BECAUSE I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHO HALF OF THESE PEOPLE ARE.

Seriously, who are "The XX"? Are they "The Double-X"? Are they "The Ex-Ex"? Are they "The Two-Ex's"?!?! And Ben Howard?! WHO?! I thought he was the comedian off Mock the Week! And who on earth was that idiot 90's bloke who was nominated for the award Ben Howard one, because honestly - the Gallagher Brothers should sue him for blatant imitation. Couldn't sound more Oasis if he tried.

I'm not being unreasonable, am I?! Unless it's for "Breakthrough Artist" or "Up and Coming", unless people like me have heard of you, you shouldn't even be nominated. And just because I have no fuckign idea who these people are, does not mean I need to be put out to pasture. Right?! RIGHT?!?!

YANBU You are righter than a right thing! I haven't heard of a lot of these randomers either.

Five minute wonders. [sniff] grin

MagratOfStolat Thu 21-Feb-13 16:18:01

I never said I didn't like them - just that I have NO IDEA who some are lol

Redbindy Wed 20-Feb-13 23:04:38

Ben Howard is brilliant. Saw him at Bestival last year and looking forward to seeing him again at the Isle of Wight festival in a few months, when I will be 60.

PoppyWearer Wed 20-Feb-13 22:19:25

YABVVVVVVVVVVU when I am 37. <glares>

YAABVVVVVVU to have not heard of any of them. I also listen to Radio 1 and have heard of them all <gavel>.

I am off to a family festival this year and everything. <tries to look cool> <fails>

bluesbaby Wed 20-Feb-13 22:16:24

shock

The XX are brilliant! Blasphemy if I ever heard it!!

Also, Ben Howard is very good too hmm Why are you picking on the ones that are genuinely good?!

TheSmallPrint Wed 20-Feb-13 22:15:02

I'm 42 nearly 43 and I've heard or them all but I do listen to Radio 1.

SneezySnatcher Wed 20-Feb-13 22:13:21

Now, let's not say things we don't mean. Muse are amazing. I have seen them live 13 times so I know this to be true. Coldplay...best live act? No!

I'm 29 and I have heard of all of these people.

nancy75 Wed 20-Feb-13 22:10:45

You are 23 and like buble? Young lady you need help!
I am 38, have heard of all of them and don't like any of them, although I would listen to call me maybe on loop for the next 100 years before I would listen to a buble song.

exexpat Wed 20-Feb-13 22:09:05

I'm 45 and I've heard of all of them. Seen quite a few live too. I listen to 6 music, have a teenage son I go to festivals with, a music-writer nephew who tells us about cool bands (I was listening to Alt-J for months before the album came out), and 10yo DD regularly inflicts Taylor Swift YouTube videos on me. But we all hate One Direction.

Catchingmockingbirds Wed 20-Feb-13 22:07:54

Yanbu, I'm 25 and have no clue either, and I listen to the radio a lot.

whateveritakes Wed 20-Feb-13 22:03:45

sorry "teenage kicks" bloody hell that was BADDDD

whateveritakes Wed 20-Feb-13 22:02:19

Arrrrghhhhhhhh!!! FTF are they doing to " One way or Another".

Please please stop them "Nah nah nah"

jamdonut Wed 20-Feb-13 21:57:25

I loooooove Muse and I'm gutted they didn't get best British Live Act. Why Coldplay, why???sad Oh and I'm 48. Haven't heard of Ben Howard, but heard of most of the rest. Can't bear One Direction, though.

LondonInHighHeeledBoots Wed 20-Feb-13 21:56:56

YANBU. I'm also 23 and haven't bleeding clue. Heard of about half of the people you've mentioned couldn't successfully match up a song to an artist though, but to be honest, I don't care! I like music, I'll listen to what is on, and that's where my relationship with it ends!

I am reserving brain space for other things, like where I've put my keys, whether or not I switched the hob off and where my house is. These things are already too crowded out! grin

YokoUhOh Wed 20-Feb-13 21:56:16

The Jessie Ware album is lush, it really is worth a listen. DH put it on just after DS was born and I sobbed the whole way through <hormonal>

HighBrows Wed 20-Feb-13 21:50:57

For what it's worth I'm not watching!!!

Stopsittingonyoursister Wed 20-Feb-13 21:50:20

I turned the TV on, saw someone I thought was Michael Buble performing, James Corden announced that it was Justin Timberlake, and I had to turn the show off in disgust at my own ignorance.

I am 34 and have listened to Radio 2 for far too long, obviously.

MagratOfStolat Wed 20-Feb-13 21:46:41

I don't HAVE a "taste" in music, that's my downfall.

I will honestly listen to everything. I love showtunes, rap, classical, rock, classic rock, funk, pop, grunge, metal, acoustic, christian rock, country... the list could go on! The only thing I'm against is the really monotonous thud-thud-thud club music, but even then I've got some exceptions!

HighBrows Wed 20-Feb-13 21:44:11

*crap should read questionable...

grin

Picturesinthefirelight Wed 20-Feb-13 21:44:09

Dd is 11 and doesn't know who half of them are.

HighBrows Wed 20-Feb-13 21:43:45

LOL Margrat you have crap taste in music! You and your generation!

MagratOfStolat Wed 20-Feb-13 21:42:54

Hey, nothing wrong with Bublé! I like my Rizzle Kicks too y'know wink

HighBrows Wed 20-Feb-13 21:41:47

LOL you like Bublé, that's your problem, you are listening to awful cheesy tunes....

I do like him being interviewed though, he's very personable.

WorraLiberty Wed 20-Feb-13 21:41:03

I AM FOURTY-FUCKING-THREE AND I'VE HEARD OF ALL OF THEM.

Just sayin grin

ceeveebee Wed 20-Feb-13 21:39:30

Yes they do, it's in their genes!
I must admit I wouldn't be able to tell you the names of any one direction or taylor swift songs but I have at least heard of them.
