I am too moist to think of a suitable response to that

YADNBU as apparently
"the challenge to redress gender inequalities in masturbation is the entrenched androcentric view that women either cannot or should not be capable of sexual satisfaction without penetration. Masturbation then, is not just a tool for sexual wellbeing, but an expression of autonomy and liberation and a challenge to the persisting attitudes that, like female orgasms, women are not only incidental but irrelevant"
Wanking is a feminist issue

do you think there will be government guide lines like the 5 fruit and veg a day
Mitchy1nge
Wed 06-Feb-13 12:04:43
yes, incidental and irrelevant - I especially like this bit
"Female orgasm, though expected, is incidental and irrelevant. Save for a few reports by medical men, female masturbation is but a footnote in the history of masturbation, and female masturbators are caricatured as morbid, pathological and deranged."

"morbid, pathological and deranged"
Yep, that's me
Mitchy1nge
Wed 06-Feb-13 12:53:39
and ME
but five a day is a bit much even by my enthusiastic standards
Mitchy, doesn't it only count if you do it 5 different ways each day?
Mitchy1nge
Wed 06-Feb-13 12:58:41
dunno, probably do manage at least five orgasms most days
but not in separate sittings
author does not actually mention any actual health benefits though, only a sort of moral entrepreneurialism to promote wanking as way of undoing the horrors of the pastel
Personally I didn't get past the stock image advert....
When was the last time you ran your rabbit over your neck and shoulders malady???
Mitchy1nge

obviously do not want the horrors of the pastel NHS vibrator near my minge

Mitchy1nge
Wed 06-Feb-13 13:09:42
well, in repose then
I can't do it standing up, I tried in the shower, it was rubbish

Not enough pressure from the shower stream for me either, feels v nice but not enough to get me over the edge.

It is interesting to think about the ideas around women's sexuality through time, and currently.
It blew my mind when I read a blog, linked to from here, that suggested that women should be considered to have lost their virginity when they had an orgasm with someone else, not when they were merely penetrated.
I (half, well, probably not really, but you know, it's fun to say it) think all girls should be given a vibrator when they are 16.

I do think girls should be taught about this sort of thing, on some other thread recently a man pretending to be a woman expressed surprise and disbelief that women could wank at all

Hmmm. I found out what to do all by myself, I just assumed everyone found out by experiment the same way. I do remember it being discussed in sex ed at school. I have a 14 year old DD, better consider when to have a chat with her.

What do girls get taught?
At school, how to / how not to procreate. And from peers, which I suppose these days means porn, how to... fake enjoying whatever is good for your male partner.
Women deserve to enjoy sex. Alone or with someone else. Nobody seems to tell that to girls.

I think they get taught the mechanics and about contraception. Not sure I would want either myself or school proclaiming how much fun sex can be.
I don't really have time for 5 a day. Sometimes I don't even have time for 1.
