Have just watched a bit of said programme and Kirstie Allsop has made a blind using some lino cut in to a duck shape and a bit of paint.
It was absolutely atrociously shit. Seriously if I had as much time to cut out the bloody duck and arse about painting and printing I could have just gone to the shop and bought a blind which actually looked nice.
I have now come away disturbed because it looked as though the guy whose house she is "improving" was doing basket weaving after the break.
If there was any wine in the house I would be drinking it now!
Crap as this programme may be I can't seem to turn over.
It was taking homespun charm a bit far, over the edge into crapness, to be fair.
I liked the ducks as it had personality. I generally like the fact that at least the homes all look different - when I'm browsing right move all I ever see is 'cappuccino' walls, brown feature wallpaper and really nasty laminate kitchen cupboards.
And these are all 'modernised'.

I turned over after the 1st ad break. Kirstie looks lost without Phil Spencer and the show was very very boring

at redressing the table for the evening once little DCs have gone to bed.
I used to make napkin roses 20yrs ago when I was a waitress. I coukd never quite get the hang of it (or see the point).

I'm not enjoying this series as much as the one where channel 4 were paying for her to do her house up
I hope Kirsty and Phil do a Christmas special though, we loved that.
Glad I didn't miss anything but tuning out then
I might have had to stab my own eyes out at table re-dressing. All that happens to our dining table after PFB is in bed is that it gets wiped and clean, ain't getting nothing fancier than that on a week day night!
Am oddly interested in what/how a napkin rose looks < runs off to hide in modern white lounge >

Yes the blind was crap
She left a huge uneven gap in the middle
That would bug me every morning as I had my morning poo
A lot of dusting in that room.

Shit ducks
Dresser will be full of dust and crap
Wicker mats will have food and crumbs stuck in them
Enough Kirsty, please.

YANBU, the spacing was all wonky. The chap that did the ceramics made our kitchen tiles, he is brilliant and very lovely too
I really like Kirsty. Some of the things are very beautiful I do think she she needs to think throught the expense of some of the crafts.
Haven't yet seen tonight's episode though.

I couldnt believe how rubbish that duck print was.
I know it is in to say oooh, Im a typical 1950s housewife but does she have no integrity! She knows it is shit but thinks, take the money and say nothing.

Only caught the end of this - but hasn't this whole shabby chic thing died a death already? Not that you have to decorate your house according to current fashion, but surely we've all read the articles in House Beautiful about buying a. Piece of junk furniture and painting it up? Don't ned a whole --belated- TV series on it.
Can't stand wicker - I equate it with charity shop baskets and Steiner schools.
Loved the tiles, though - who was the designer, Minn?

I only watched the bit with the blind.
DD promptly announced that she wants one for her bedroom but with ginger and grey cats and asked me how much it would cost to make one
Think i might chop up a potato for her, chuck her and old sheet and let her loose with some poster paint!!
It was pretty naff though, it looked like there were a row of ducks missing!!

I watched her first 'make stuff for your house' series and was appalled by the dreadful standard tbh. My mum and I watched it and we couldn't believe the poor quality of most of the things she made; badly finished, poorly sewn etc.
I may be biased as my mum is great at all that sort of thing and taught us when we were little... but seriously when what you see on a programme is all badly finished etc, it looks more shabby than chic and isn't really an incentive to have a go yourself!
