I know a woman who is looking for someone to rescue her staffy nobody where she lives will take him in as he is a staff.

Can you help her?

TheLadyEvenstar · 20/05/2011 10:06

She is in Derby

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 20/05/2011 10:24

TheLadyEvenstar you would be better off pming Val or posting in 'The Doghouse' I think this is likely to get lost in AIBU.

TheLadyEvenstar · 20/05/2011 10:25

WTWTW, Have just done that - posted in the doghouse.

MrSpoc · 20/05/2011 10:47

thats a shame. Staffies are oen of the nicest dog breeds there is.

DooinMeCleanin · 20/05/2011 10:49

Why does she want rid TLES? Maybe we could come up with some ideas as to how to help her keep him.

TheLadyEvenstar · 20/05/2011 10:51

From what I can gather she is moving to a new home.

I am furious because she go him in September now is wanting to rehome him "As she can't take him with her"

DooinMeCleanin · 20/05/2011 10:57

Poor wee doggy. I wish I could help, but I am too far away. Try contacting Bullies in Need. They might know of a good local rescue.

LtEveDallas · 20/05/2011 10:59

Oh bugger - I was going to do the same thing today (ask Val's help re a rescue/rehoming). Almost same reason too - some people...grr

TheLadyEvenstar · 20/05/2011 11:03

It annoys me so much.

I did pay for my pup and rescued her at the same time. Nothing on this planet would make me get rid of her. And I took some stick from people because of her looks when she was smaller. I hasten to add she looks very different now!

But I stuck with her as I love her and she is the perfect addition to our family. If I knew I was moving I wouldn't have got her I would have waited.

That is fucking dreadful. I would love to have another Staff they are the best dogs in the world. Fact.
The woman who got it should be shot. Another fact.

feckwit · 20/05/2011 11:09

These people may have some ideas?

TheLadyEvenstar · 20/05/2011 11:10

Kreecher, I feel the same.

I got my staff just about a month ago. And have worked hard with her to feed her up after she was basically starved. I have taught her to trust people and realise nobody would hurt her. The people who had her before me beat her and locked her in one room all the time. I do have problems with toilet training but she is going to get there without anyone stressing. So to read this has annoyed me.

Northern Staffordshire Bullterrier Rescue may be able to help, TLES - I haven't really explored the site, but I would assume they'd know of other staffie rescues around the country.

Hope this helps - and good on you for trying to help this poor dog.

coccyx · 20/05/2011 11:19

Good luck
Some people are such twats

kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/05/2011 11:20

I'd love to have it as I said, but, I am not yet in England and am planning to work so it wouldn't be any good.
I must stop offering homes to animals. Yesterday it was a three legged kitten.

TheLadyEvenstar · 20/05/2011 11:35

Kreecher, I was like that until I moved.
at one point I had
6 budgies - 3 rescued
24 russian dwarf hamsters
a HUGE 5m old pup she was a lurcher x lab
2 cats

a rabbit
15 fish
and DS1.

I rehomed Honey my pup as she went to attack DS1 who was at the time just playing. But I realised why the previous owners didn't want her very sad I cried for a week.

The hamsters went to new owners in pairs.

My Rabbit Ripper was murdered

My budgies died Sad

my cats went to my sister when I moved I had had them 3 yrs at the time. But it was not a decision I made lightly. and I see them every other day.

The fish went to my best friend when I moved as they were not really mine in the first place.

And I kept DS1 Wink

kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/05/2011 12:28

At least this is being kept bumped for Val.
I am standing firm on this. I have promised DD that she can have two kittens. We won't be getting a dog, I am hopefully going to go out all day and it wouldn't be fair.
We wont' be having a tortoise, stick insects, fish, gerbils, hamsters we've had all those.
Definitely no birds, I am shit scared of them.

belledechocchipcookie · 20/05/2011 12:30

There's a RSPCA shelter on Abbey Street in Derby, has she tried there?

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 20/05/2011 12:32

Belle - the problem with the RSPCA is that they are not a 'No Kill' shelter. If a dog is too difficult to home, they may find a 'reason' why it needs to be put to sleep.

belledechocchipcookie · 20/05/2011 12:34

Ahh, I see. Sad

Mumswang · 20/05/2011 12:41

may i ask, and i'm not sure it's something i think myself, but as this thread is in AIBU and a bit off track anyway.....

is it sometimes better for a dog that is difficult to rehome, to be humanely killed? rather than living it's life in kennels or being passed from pillar to post.

obviously in an ideal world this wouldn't be a consideration, but it's something that crossed my mind when we were visiting shelters looking for our dog

Bogeyface · 20/05/2011 12:49

The problem with the Abbey St branch is that they are usually full to bursting. I used to live around the corner and they always had signs up saying they were full, they couldnt take the pregnant stray cat that adopted us that we couldnt keep as we werent allowed pets in our rented house. We did keep her for a four months in the end as it took that long to get a rescue centre to take her and just hoped that the landlord didnt come round!

TheLadyEvenstar · 20/05/2011 12:49

IMO it is never better for a healthy dog to be pts. regardless of the reason.

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 20/05/2011 12:51

Bump for Val to see.

Mumswang · 20/05/2011 12:51

No LadyEvenstar i'd agree to a degree, it's horrid and tragic but a life in kennels seems so sad and stressful for some animals Sad
