to not understand why DH thinks I need to come on MN to 'confess' what I did over DD's easter bonnet today?

He did this faceHmm at me.

Honestly, there is nothing to confess.

But with all this typing he now thinks I have posted my terrible crimes on here for all to see, so we'll leave it it that.

I am sure the MN jury will declare my behaviour completely normal.

We had a newsletter last week from nursery saying there would be a parade and judging of easter bonnets today. All I did was make a bonnet for DD to take to nursery today. She is two. It is a very modest and not very inspiring bonnet, but MrP thinks I have turned into a 'middle class competitive mummy'.

Like that's a crime anyway?

And as an aside, who exactly was meant to make the bonnet if not you? My kids did their own as they are school age and given the right stuff, can be let alone to to do it, but I hardly think a 2 year old is up to that!

I wouldn't have dreamt of making a bonnet for my DD.

Her nanny did it so much better Grin

It's not worthy of a pic. It's nothing like the fox hat.

I bought a bonnet from the Pound shop. I bought crepe paper and glitter. I located a old plastic flower pot.* I found some soft toys.

I constructed hat as follows:

  1. Cut the bottom off the flower pot and put it over the head bit of the hat.
  2. Cut the green crepe paper into grass and put this around the inside of the flower pot.
  3. Put a little soft toy bunny in the flower pot with his face poking over the top through the grass.
  4. Made blossoms with the pink crepe paper and stuffed this in the centre of the pot.
  5. Scattered cardboard easter eggs painted with coloured glitter throughout the blossoms. DD helped me paint the glitter.

That's it.

This modest creation apparently was 'the most uber hat' in evidence when MrP dropped DD at nursery today. He said the other hats were 'bits of cardboard bent around in a circle.'

I did nothing wrong, did I?

  • And when I say I located a plastic flower pot, MrP thinks I found one in the shed. Well... I looked in the shed but none were quite the right size. So I drove down to the local countrywide but they only sold tiny ones. So I surveyed the plants for sale and found some flowers with a pot the right size - half price as flowers were dying. Perfect. Flowers went in compost bin. I washed and used the plastic pot.

But MrP doesn't know about this part so it surely can't count towards the AIBU judgement.

No, no. Not at all extravagant.

Evidence: DD came home with a certificate which said 'PricelessGirl took part in the 2011 easter bonnet parade.'

Took part?Angry Obviously someone had a better hat or she would have won the prize.

Well, the newsletter clearly says 'There will be a prize for the best bonnet in each room.'

Furious!! And I was so confident after MrP's cardboard circle comments too.

And obviously, poor DD. So disappointed, etc.
