Shay or Chase?

Shay makes me think of Irish footballer Shay Given (short for Séamus) so doesn’t feel odd as a male name.

Chase…not for me.

Shay is really nice.
Chase is not.

Chase is a no.

Do you want Shay to rhyme with way, or do you mean Shai (ie. Hebrew name for gift) pronounced shy?

Any other options?

They are both really grim, sorry OP. I suppose Chase is a bit better, but just because it is daft rather than thuggish

Seamus is nice though - can you not call him that and Shay for short if you must? At least he has options..

Chase 🤣

Dear god

I know brothers called Chase and Shey

I like both but think I prefer Shey. There's quite a few mid/late teens called Chase around these parts

Neither

Chase. I can’t stand Shay as a name.

John or David. Sorry, but that's my opinion.

Chase

There are loads of shays around here but I only know of one chase

Don't ask the mumsnet squads advice unless you're planning on calling him Albert/Arthur/Wilfred 🤮

Neither, sorry!

Both chavtastic to my ear. Sorry!

I have a Chase and still love his name, he was born before Paw Patrol. We have only met a couple over the years.
Don’t worry what others think, choose the name you love.

Shay is the least offensive.

Chase is very American and makes me think of a character from a Tennessee Williams play. Some could pull it off.

Shay feels like it was popular twenty years or so ago. I don’t think it’s bad but I don’t get the best vibe from it. Though I’d probably choose it over Chase as it’d be the safer choice.

Neither of them are offensive

Chase is the name of a huge American bank.
It's also almost a parody of cowboy style names.

Chase, but I live in the US where it's not an unusual name!

Like both. Nice names

Ffs

What's wrong with that?

I like chase

Both utterly vile!
