Shay or Chase?

Sorry just saw the comment above mine was nearly exactly the same 🤣🤣🤣 great minds!

This. Sorry but you asked....

Chase is bad, Shay is truly awful and must be an abbreviation for Shane. Sorry!

Lots of aul fellas in Ireland called Shay so wouldn't fancy it. Hate Chase. It doesn't really matter if you love them though.

Our dog is called chase

I really like Shay. Have known a few over the years and they've all been lovely.

Both are awful.

Shay very popular in Ireland at the minute, I know a few baby Shays, Chase is a no

lol great minds indeed! The two names have such different vibes to me

In Ireland a Shay would never have a brother called Chase. His brother would be called Gerry or Brendan.

Neither, chase just makes me think of the bank, shay just sounds unfinished seamus is a nice name

The weird thing is that they’re both atrocious but in completely contrasting ways — Shay is an aul fella in wellies and milking overalls name, while Chase has a really dated retro-playboy past his prime thing going on.

Séamus itself is nice, though.

I prefer Shay

Quite some offensive comments to us who have a Shay...

With respect, this is the Baby Names board, where people post for frank opinions, and where every thread involves someone tearing to shreds someone’s existing child’s name, or a poster’s own name.

I love Shea.

Chase is really not very nice IMO.

I know a Che which is much nicer. Neither for me though.

Chase. Met one today and he was a lovely polite young man.

Neither.
Chase is a cartoon dog and a man called Shay assaulted me as a teen 😬

Shay is a lovely Irish and Asian boys name

Shay is lovely and as others have said it's really common around here and usually short for Seamus.

Neither

I have a Seamus nn Shay, so I’m biased. I am Irish and live in England so I like that it’s a clearly Irish name but easy for people to pronounce (rather than other names on my list, like Diarmuid and Padraig)

Chase

Shay, but I'd put seamus or Hamish on bc.

Chase sounds like an American bank. I'm conjuring up a tommy hilfiger ad. That might be a good thing!! I can smell the lemons.

Chase is a name you would see in a Hallmark type series

I've always though of Shay/Shea and Chase as girls names.
