They covered labour's GRC changes.

I'm just listening on catch up

Ger Scott who wrote this for the times was describing what they were suggesting

Terrible piece. No proper analysis, very supportive of Labour's dreadful plans, "nothing to see here", no women's group invited to comment, dismissed the trans widows's plight.
Just awful.

I agree. It was very surprising to hear them swerve around any discussion about concerns over the actual real-world impacts of the intended changes. Imagine if all news was covered in that way: There's a significant change in X about to happen, we'll tell you what the changes are but not explain what the impacts will be.

There is never any explanation of what a so-called "Spousal Veto" is or any inquiry into the process. They just accept press releases and move on.

What's annoying is that this was also times columnist. She surely could have been clearer about the inherent issues

She also used the "heat and light" trope. wtf

WarriorN · 24/06/2024 14:28

She completely missed the opportunity to mention transwidows too. "Campaign groups."

The heat an light trope always comes in to cover up what they don't want to talk about. Harriet Harmon was busy with it on Times Radio this lunchtime.

WarriorN · 24/06/2024 15:22

But this was a times journalist!

I don't think they are all like-minded. There was a political correspondent on this morning, some time after Wes Streeting, giving his view that Keir Starmer had changed what he was saying but I can't say I noticed.

WarriorN · 24/06/2024 15:45

Has Janice turner written any articles about all this recently?
