Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

”online radicalisation”

WorkinMumsince4ever · 15/12/2022 07:36

Last night I noticed a person I follow in Twitter (a trans advocate) copied and pasted one of the conversations discussed in this forum regarding a woman losing her best friend due to indoctrination into the gender identity cult.
The conversation was included as “ridiculous histeria”, to undermine the concern of a real woman.
It is concerning due to many reasons: this is not a safe space for women to speak freely, whatever it is mentioned in this forum is used against the commentator.
Unfortunately not everyone was raised to care for critical thinking, and it’s easily influence.

OTOH tweets like those bring people to MN to see what the 'ridiculous hysteria' is all about. Visitors read a different perspective, carefully evidenced discussions, concerns for safeguarding that include the welfare of people who disagree with us, and discover that the TRAs are the ones expressing 'ridiculous hysteria'.

TRA online radicalisation wrecks lives. MN online radicalisation supports lives.

The amount of time that accounts like India Willoughby and Ann Coates spend here, I hope they're paying for Premium. I should think India would enjoy the Style and Beauty section.

'Radicalisation' to talk about sex and how sex affects those born women?

How many thousands of years have humans gone understanding the difference between a man and a woman and its somehow radical to continue to point this out?

It makes a change from the accusation that we are dinosaurs who are stuck in the past mind.

Radical Dinosaurs. They sound pretty cool tbh.

As for online radicalisation... Kinda made coming from an online group which shuns and blocks people who don't tow the group line and chat twaw and accuse everyone of coming to stop them all from existing whilst simultaneously costing up with the US President...

Na, its the new Scientology. Followed by all the stars and completely fucked in the head in terms of beliefs and medicalisation. Trendy, but not got the best interests of its lower status members remotely in mind.

Meanwhile women here talk about the selfworth and worth to society of women in domestic violence shelters and prisons.

I think I'll stay thinking radical dinosaur.

I feel sorry for India, hate scrolling MN to find scraps to throw to followers.

Well, Merry Christmas everyone!

TinFoilHatty · 15/12/2022 12:32

Some people do not like women talking, do they. The old fashioned kind of women, I mean.

JacquelinePot · 15/12/2022 12:33

I've got less than zero interest in anything that particular person says. Don't give h__ the head-space

ArabellaScott · 15/12/2022 12:45

Well, anyway.

The herstory of 'hysteria' is fascinating. First noted in Ancient Egyptian papyrus, apparently.

The 'wandering womb' is discussed further here:

Syeknom · 15/12/2022 12:58

Got to watch out for all those unruly uteruses wandering around unsupervised having opinions!

'Radicalisation' is indoctrination into a new, marginal and extremist belief.

Its not actually radicalisation if its a long term dominant belief that's based in reality and has been the foundation of the society we all live in. Words have definitions.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Poor India - the media career must’ve gone right down the pan to have all this time free to monitor Mumsnetters.

Itsoktogiveup · 15/12/2022 13:57

They need to educate themselves on the etymology of the word hysteria and why this is an incredibly misogynistic and offensive way to use it.

Hm... given that India Willoughby claims to be a 'Cis woman' with a cervix, I shouldn't be surprised if the next revelation is that IW possesses a uterus too - maybe wandered a bit further though.

IW quoting MN posts doesn't remotely make MN 'not a safe space for women to speak freely'.

Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 15/12/2022 14:07

TBH it's looking more like Twitter isn't a very 'safe space' for IW , coming out with this sort of misogynistic bullshit won't look good to sane readers

ReunitedThorns · 15/12/2022 15:01

Please be more thoughtful, Ms Willoughby cannot suffer from hysteria because they do not and have never had a uterus.

terryleather · 15/12/2022 15:16

Another day, another explosion of testerical narc rage...same as it ever was.

terryleather · 15/12/2022 15:22

Oh and d'you know what "radicalised" me, it wasn't reading MN or listening to feminists it was when I took the tired advice to "educate myself" and actually listen to the arguments straight from the horses' mouths...no prizes for guessing what happened next.

Doing our jobs for us...

ErrolTheDragon · 15/12/2022 16:02

IW is a one-person radicalisation hot-spot, I would think.

LaughingPriest · 15/12/2022 16:14

Among other things, IW is racist. I despair that people follow IW and amplify their views. There was a thread about IW's racism not long ago.

Merry Christmas everyone else!

Helleofabore · 15/12/2022 16:24

I think Willoughby is an amazing agent of radicalisation.

This clip and the attempt to forceably kiss a man in the Big Brother house certainly enlightened me.

terryleather · 15/12/2022 16:36

RedToothBrush · 15/12/2022 16:16

Ah I see... yet another budgie pecking at its reflection in a mirror...quelle surprise.
