I'm soooo glad they added this in:

Wpath has a global membership of about 3,000 people, including non-professionals. It is not an official health body, but publishes “standards of care” recommendations for transgender healthcare.

This needs to be repeated every time this discussion is had.

FOJN · 17/06/2022 07:42

Good article but I'm usually more interested in the comments section, it looks like the six mumsnetters who keep this board busy have found some spare time to pop over to The Times. 😁

PIE, state sponsored child abuse and the eunuch archives are each mentioned more than once. The general public knows what's going on, how much longer are our politicians going to pretend there is nothing to see here?

They’ve seen that puberty blockers are on the way out and are attracting too much negative attention due to their potentially appalling side-effects, so they’re sidestepping those and moving to simply transing at an earlier age.

WarriorN · 17/06/2022 08:23

Many mentions of Gluck in the comments 👍

Feelingoktoday · 17/06/2022 08:47

Great comments in that article.

Hagiography · 17/06/2022 09:03

And noting that the current Director of WPATH works for the NHS.

First time I've been able to read comments in the Times for ages and they are rather spectacular, aren't they.

Hagiography · 17/06/2022 09:53

Yes. Comments are pretty clear as to what they think this advice constitutes. And what people think about WPATH.

Look at how many men are commenting - knowledgeably and clearly.

@Hagiography

Also slightly concerning at Nottingham is this person:

Dr Derek Glidden – Lead Clinician
Dr Derek Glidden, BMBS, BMedSci, MRCPsych is a Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Lead and recently appointed Clinical Director at the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health and an Honorary Assistant Professor at University of Nottingham, School of Medicine. He provides assessment and treatment for gender affirming medical interventions. He has particular clinical and academic interest in the co-occurrence of ASC and neurodiversity in those seeking transgender healthcare. He has published on this topic and presented (inter)nationally.
He is Module Co-Lead for Modules 1 and 3 of the Royal College of Physicians and University of London’s Gender Identity Healthcare PGCert/PGDip Credential. He has been passionate about clinical education in transgender health, leading education at the Centre. He has developed and ran educational placements at the Centre
for a variety of clinicians at both undergraduate and post graduate level.
Dr Glidden is a recognised specialist in gender dysphoria and his name is included as a registered medical practitioner on the Gender Recognition Panel.
Pronouns: He, Him, His

🤔

(Shouldn't that be he has run, rather than ran?)

WarriorN · 17/06/2022 10:57

Bouman is also a co editor of this: "Non-binary and Genderqueer Genders"

Dr Jon Arcelus is one of the chapter leads working on the 'Eunuch' chapter for WPATH.

'Professor Jon Arcelus

Pronouns: He, Him, His'

Hagiography · 17/06/2022 13:30
  • Wait, double checking that. May not be correct re Arcelus.
Hagiography · 17/06/2022 13:43

Okay, apologies, I got confused.

Arcelus is one of the Co-chairs overseeing the new Standards of Care (v 8).

He is not specifically working on the 'eunuchs' chapter. More overseeing the whole work, as far as I can tell.

MangyInseam · 17/06/2022 13:45

Those comments are really good.

It's amazing to see the difference in quality between those, and what you see in places like the Guardian. And in the news media here in Canada, on the CBC website the comments on articles like these seem to be written by 14 year olds who have no awareness of the issues, in contrast to those you see on this issue in teh National POst which is more to the right.

There has come to be a kind of mental laziness among progressives or liberals that I don't remember from when I was a young person.

Snugglepumpkin · 17/06/2022 20:49

How has an organisation with less members than the International Flat Earth society used to have gained so much traction?

They should be taken just as seriously as the Flat Earthers were/are & relegated to the funny story at the end of the news from time to time.

At least Flat Earthers cause less harm & some amusement.

MidCenturyClegs · 18/06/2022 10:51

Lots of new information is coming to light about the use of PBs, even captured Australia has lately given warnings.

https://genderclinicnews.substack.com/p/blockers-and-the-brain?r=130uly&s=w&utmcampaign=post&utmmmedium=web&utmsource=direct

I'm not surprised that the likes of WPATH are doubling down, and seeing pity articles in the Guardian etc.
