So UK LGBTQ+ groups prioritise unquestioning transitioning of teenagers in the UK over LGBTQ+ people being executed, imprisoned, force transitioned, in other countries?

That's what it boils down to, isn't it, if they're willing to abandon and jeopardise a big international conference on global LGBTQ+ rights (the often lethal lack of them in many countries, unlike here) over the T aspect of the UK conversion therapy bill?

""Lots of international stakeholders, particularly those in the Global South, will be dismayed at this cancellation and the loss of this golden opportunity to advance LGBT rights and freedoms in the most hostile environments." (source from Paul Brand ITV's Twitter thread)

And here, groups who get paid millions of pounds, including by the taxpayer, to advocate for LGB as well as the T now won't. They know full well the reason why the Govt has said it needs more time and evidence over the T aspect of the conversion therapy bill, and they know detransitioners exist, even if their websites won't mention their existence, let alone actually provide support or add them to the ever expanding alphabet. Having first abandoned the entire bill, the Govt then swiftly reintroduced the LGB aspect and said it needs more careful discussion and evidence around the T. The LGBTQ groups could do likewise now, engage in proper adult discussion, which includes listening to evidence, and in the meantime do their job and listen to the voices of far less privileged LGBTQ+ people globally, some of whom are actually being killed and imprisoned because of their sexuality and presentation.

Somehow this makes me think a lot of the LGBT groups do not care about LGB people any more.

FrancescaContini · 06/04/2022 09:18

Seems to be all about the T…

Malcolm Clark had a thread about this conference - he's a bit cynical about it.

Want to know the truth about that stupid global conference the LGBTQ+ lobby are all huffily boycotting? In truth, the government should be relieved if it has to cancel it #SafeToBeMe2022. It's a huge organised gang heist of taxpayers' money ...and here's how.

The conference has been a key long-term goal of the APPGLGBT [All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global LGBT+ Rights], an increasingly hysterical pressure group within parliament led by Crispin Blunt and John Nicolson; which tells you all you need to know about its intellectual rigour.

The work of the APPGLGBT is funded by the shadowy Baring Foundation, the trustees of which include the usual cast of ex-Stonewall panjandrums (obviously). It funded the Safe to Be Me Report. Guess, if you can, the central demand of the report?

The Report demands 0.3% of Overseas Develoment Aid be spent on LGBTQ+ groups across the world. Our ODA spend is £14,479M, so that's £43M! If you suspect this is a racket where groups pay a parliamentary lobby to agitate for millions to be spent on them, you're not wrong.

Look at all the logos of the LGBTQ+ groups supporting the Report. Do you think there's any chance that most of this £43M of taxpayers money is going to flow like liquid gold to those same gender identity obsessed groups? Damn right it will.

They'll then use this lucre to promote all the usual kid-damaging, women-undermining, gay-erasing garbage they push over here. But the people who will be on the receiving end this time will be even poorer and more vulnerable than UK gay teenagers at the Tavistock.

If this government had any sense it would thank the idiots now boycotting the conference and give the £5M it's reputed to cost to some better causes. How about a legal fund to prosecute surgeons carrying out breast removals on under 18s? Don't they deserve to be #SafeToBeMe?

That makes very interesting and disturbing reading. And yes, I have a feeling these groups were not in it to advance LGBT rights but to make money. A very wise woman once told me “always follow the money”

Well Stonewall charge an outrageous amount of money for their bullshit training.

Did you see the thread about the £1500 zoom call they are providing to the British Library about "dealing with protestors"? Something they would not be expected to have any special expertise in?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/04/2022 09:38

The suggested protestors being... I'm sure you can guess.

There was a superb panel of speakers who spoke about this in a WHRC event: they referred to it as rainbow imperialism. E.g., Yeye Luisah Teish on Rainbow flag imperialism gave a fascinating overview of Yoruba traditions and how culture and traditions are ignored/suppressed by NGOs. She also shared her experience of being a black woman in the US.

Lol. Despite all the “gender binary is a white supremacist construct” I would love to watch them going to all our countries telling men they need to suck girl dick or else. Good luck with that.

NewNamePrivacyneeded · 01/07/2022 16:00

It's easier to moan and push the agendas in the UK. Try even being gay in a number of counties/cultures around the world - I guess it's easier to push the T onto children here.

Countries like India and Samoa have "third genders", which essentially are for effeminate men, and allows the wider community to not classify them as real men, which also makes it acceptable for the "real" men to have sex with them without having to identify as gay.

Iran trans the gay away. And again men can have sex with men as long as one has been through conversion therapy (sex change).

Another interesting thing to note is the countries that have "third genders" accept biological reality and no one of the third gender experiences gender dysmorphia and acknowledge their biological sex.
