What's "Jigsaw PHSE" like on trans issues?

Looking up what they use to teach PHSE in my DC's school and they use Jigsaw PHSE www.jigsawpshe.com

On the website there's a glossary that uses "cisgender" but most of their "LGBTQI+" stuff focuses on gay children from what I've found so far.

Has anyone had any experience of these resources? What's their stance on trans? If the school are using the website, will they be using them for training the staff also?

Have you posted in the staffroom? You could look on the TES forums too.

Good tip, thank you.

Seems to sat you can order a free memory stick. Yrs 1-6 sample I looked at mentioned homophobic bullying but nothing else, haven't looked much further.

It's not SRE though so I'm not entirely sure how much any trans discussion comes in, certainly at primary level. The example I read was very much about looking at and questioning the impact of differences and bullying from pupils personal experiences (so open ended) rather than any other direct teaching.

Just found this, off to peruse.

Can't copy and paste but introduces concept of stereotypes of girls and boys in y2 before anything else.

It does distinguish between gender and sex but possibly not enough - they do say that there's no direct teaching of these areas but teachers should be aware of terms and how to explain them to children v adult speak.

They've taken advice from this it seems:

This is from EACH which Jigsaw appear to have worked with. It's mostly about homophobic bullying. There's a very small part on transphobia which I felt was very sensitively written. Also no link given to mermaids at the back.

That's all very reassuring thank you.

The Jigsaw PSHE resource does seem more balanced on the whole, but in the glossary section they still write about being assigned a gender at birth which is, of course, unmitigated bollocks.
