Anyone feel the women are coming across fairly badly this season? there was a segment about it in women's house yesterday.

Clip here...

I love the Apprentice but I feel this year in particular the women are either being portrayed badly or not team players. Also all those high heels, must make work life even harder!

Anyone else watching?

Agree wholeheartedly with both of you. I know the amount of make up people wear is personal choice & does not impact on their business abilities etc, but SO much make up??? It amazes me & the heels! It makes my teeth itch watching them totter around with inches of make up trowelled on...

StuffezLaYoni · 29/05/2013 14:30

Oh God, the "just for meeee" is excruciating.

Was just saying to DH that I couldn't take any of them seriously in the workplace. They are (being portrayed as) indecisive and moody, and seem unable to present a point of view in a professional manner.

Italiangreyhound · 29/05/2013 17:41

I think Leah is a strong candidate and also I really like Rebecca (and hope Rebecca will win!).

I think that the show has portrayed the women in a very bad light and this is very unhelpful.

I was utterly gobsmacked that after Neil and Kurt screwed up yesterday Zeeshaan took Natalie and Leah into the board room! I was all ready to write in if either of the women got fired as it was so unfair! Luckily, sense prevailed!

I think it's a great pity that young women presented (and presenting themselves) in what's claimed to be a business environment where they're working with men on an equal basis, and just as likely to get fired, have to be all painted up and simpering. Maybe that's too loaded with negative judgment, but if there's a job to be done, it'll look best if everyone looks as if they're taking it seriously. Consider that all except one of them will be looking for a job somewhere else, and their future employer will have seen the programme. What sort of impression are they making?

Italiangreyhound · 29/05/2013 18:07

I also think in fairness the guys are not presenting themselves very well either!

I want Rebecca to win!

We need more badgers!

sashh · 30/05/2013 09:26

We need to teach all of them that if you are going to pluck your eye brows then get an expert to do it, this is for both sexes.

NewLifeDownSouth · 30/05/2013 14:50

Did you see the woman on the apprentice you're fired show? She gave zee a right dressing down for his sexist attitudes. She was brilliant.

I was gutted at the beginning that the only normal looking woman got fired on the first show. I wanted her to do better!

Italiangreyhound · 30/05/2013 16:36

I think they all look fairly normal, they just seem to use a lot of make up and wear high heels, it is not in itself (to me) a bad thing. I would not want to totter into a task on 6 inch heels, but if they can and do and are happy so be it. But the over all impression that is coming across is that if you want to be a woman in buisness you need to look glamourous, wear make up and high heels and you need to put other people down and not do team work well!

The guys also look pretty stupid at times and are coming across as crass etc but luckily for them there are a lot of real life role models for young aspiring business guys to take note of.

I miss the likes of Sara Khan, Ruth Badger and Stella English.

They all look like slags office Barbie. Depressing. I miss lovely Lucinda who dressed like a primary school teacher!

samandi · 30/05/2013 22:44

Some of them look awful. My initial reaction was that they look like prostitutes, but perhaps that's just me showing my conservative streak.

scottishmummy · 31/05/2013 11:32

both genders come. across badly.the women do look over made up and ditzy
I struggle to think in what professional milieu their attire or demeanour would be ok
I can unequivocally say if female did the pwiddy purleese it wouldn't cut it.a swift talk about professional demeanour would follow

Childrenofthestones · 31/05/2013 19:57

Is it obligatory to have as much leg on show at all times?

arsenaltilidie · 31/05/2013 21:23

Both genders are bad, I think the candidates are chosen for their entertainment value than their business acumen.

Rebecca does seem to be like the stand out candidate.

TeiTetua · 31/05/2013 21:24

I'd be very interested to know what the participants were told when they signed up. Was it "Dress the way you would for an office job" or was it "You're on TV, dress like a performer"? Or maybe they weren't told anything in particular and the women worked out for themselves that glamour would somehow be the best presentation.

They seem to be more ready for show business than business, don't they. Or is it that they see business as being about what you're willing to show?

Childrenofthestones · 06/06/2013 21:36

Another bevy (can 3 be a bevy?) of thigh flashers last night tearing chunks out of each other after Lord Sugar brought them back into the board room to fire one of them.

invicta · 06/06/2013 21:39

Have they got shares in eyeshadow? There's been a lot of comments about eyebrows, but not eyeshadow this year.

arsenaltilidie · 06/06/2013 23:12

Blush she went too soon.
