i'm a builder.
i'm not going to make a defense of wolf-whistleing dont worry.

what i do want to say is that from my long experience of working in construction most guys on site dont wolf-whistle.

the building trade, however does seem to attract it's fair share of total nutters, excitable over-grown children and dim-wits. every site has a few loonies, they do the wolf-whistleing, the vast majority of tradesmen are family men who just want to get on with their work.

from a pycological POV , and i have given this alot of thought, it's most definatly not a complement, it's all about the builder being in the lowest social class, when i nicely dress beutiful woman walks by she doesnt even want to look at him with his dirty clothes ETC. she is so unobtainable for him that he wants to settle that inbalance by making her feel uncomfortable.

'ok, you would never look at me, but at least i can do this to you'

The last time someone shouted at me I ignored them, so they threw a bottle at my head.

Sadly chairman if I went to the police with that they'd fob me off. :( Seems you have to be raped for them to take it seriously, and even then the charges are a joke.

Anyway, I shared the petition on my Facebook and one of my friends has signed! Grin So sick of the attitude that women should be flattered by random men screaming obscenities or wolf whistling...Makes me so incredibly uncomfortable.

sadly, your probobly right.
wolf-whistling cannot be made illegal, then your into the area of free speach, part of that deal is some things will offend, like somali emams extoling the virtues of FGM or right wing preachers burning Qorans, both hugely offensive but you cant legeslate against bad taste.

but pinching a bottom is assault, and the police should take that seriously, not giggle thinking it isnt inportant. what makes one person think they can do that to another stranger? what sort of entitlement must he feel to think he just can?

did you go to the police ? or did you think they wouldnt have taken it seriously? ( i do think they probobly wouldnt have).

I meant if I went to them with the bum pinching. They wouldn't giggle but how high do you realistically think that would fall on their sex crimes list? It's a sad fact, but we have more scuzzbags than cops around.
