Saw this article and wondered what everyone else would think

This is a comedy website I tend not to associate with feminist articles, but I read this and it made me think. Just wondered what others might think about it.

There are a few clangy comments in there, but I'm guessing these are for comic effect. Otherwise, it gives a fairly good description how the mechanisms of patriarchy encourage men as a class to view women as a class as inferior, yup. It's not rocket science, but maybe for some folks reading it, it will be the first time they've seen it all bundled together and they might nod in recognition.

But, what's missing is what can be done about it. Without that, it sort of leaves off with, "well, it's shit really, but that's just the way it is." It could have gone that extra distance with say 5 things men can do to "unprogramme" themselves or something like that, or even a link to an pro-feminist men's website or something. It missed the chance of a really good punch line there.

I think that was pretty much my opinion; social commentary without going any further to try to come up with solutions or ideas to break it down. That being said I was impressed with the fact that an article on a comedy website that is pretty low brow did forsake the usual jokes in favour of making these points. I got the impression that the author really did care about what he was trying to say which is not something I've seen from a male writer.

Yes, I think it is all true, except that when he says all the skyscrapers, etc., are done to impress women, it is actually only half the story -- the impressing is done to get the women. The sense of entitlement that Lundy Bancroft details in his books is well described here. Culture that allows this sort of systematic denigration of women has terrible ramifications.

And he is to be applauded for pointing out the level of pure, seething hatred that is out there directed at women, consuming so many men and informing so much of contemporary culture, from the forced wearing of burquas to the porn apologising that goes on. The world needs more men admitting to the existence of this burning hatred, and holding men responsible for it. It should be discussed and it should be studied and men should shun those among them who indulge in it.

Expressing such opinions should be classified as a hate crime.
